Unlike Beethoven's Ninth, Ralph's Ninth isn't a symphony-- it's his hatchday. Ralph is nine years old today.  He celebrated with popcorn, cheddar cheese and cinnamon donut (just a taste of those last two favorite treats). He got a fresh supply of popsicle sticks to chew up and some new leather laces to untie. And, as usual, he had fun climbing in the dishwasher, once I unloaded the just-cleaned dishes from it.  |

Ahh ! Happy hatch day ralph ! Sounds like it was a great day for him ! All his favorites and toys too! Such a lucky lil guy..ya mean he doesn't growl at the dishwasher? ??

Wow, happy hatchday, Ralph!  Where did the time go? Bet you enjoyed the dishwasher - I hope Dad checks it first before running a wash/clean cycle...:0 I bet you are still a gentleman quaker (can't keep good breeding down). |

Ralph and I thank you for your good wishes. Growl at the dishwasher? Certainly not! Some time ago, Ralph adopted it for a playstand. I have to pile the dirty dishes in the sink until I have enough for a full load, and I must leave a few clean ones in the dishwasher 'cause Ralph expects them to be there. They include an empty plastic cottage cheese container he likes to toss on the floor, and a faded orange ceramic soup bowl Ralph likes to eat popcorn from. Ralph likes to supervise when I load and unload the dishwasher-- from inside his cage, which I roll over next to the kitchen door, so there's no danger of him getting an unexpected extreme bath in the dishwasher.  He thinks it's fun to get a ride in his cage and likes to watch me work in the kitchen. Ralph is still the gentleman Quaker. It is pretty remarkable for a parrot to be so cheerful and even-tempered. Since Scooter the CAG likes to watch what Ralph does, I'm hoping she'll learn a few things from him besides his squawk. |
