When I uncover the cages in the morning, I start with Polly, and as I slowly remove the cover, I say, "Where's Polly? I Want my Polly, Where did Polly go?" Of course, when she can finally see me, I say, "There she is!"
One day, I went over to her cage, and she ran to the back corner, turned her back to me, and said, "Where's Polly? Where did Polly go?" She said it several times, then I said "There she is!!" She turned around, and I'd swear that she was smiling!!

(I've already posted this under Quaker parrot Talk but it seemed more appropriate here)
My 5 y/o son was walking around the house the other day, and he showed me his toy bag full of pieces of paper, and golfballs, and then he says, "I'm cooking dinner".
So I say, "Great I can have a night off from cooking! So what are we having?"
And being a typical silly boy he says, "Poop sandwiches",
To which I replied, "What?? Ewww! Richard that is gross! Don't say that!"
From the other room we could hear Pretty Bird saying, "Hahaha!"
So I walked over to Pretty Boy trying not to laugh, and I said "You found that amusing eh?"
Well, he put his head to the side, looked me straight in the eye ,and laughed again!!
Smarty pants little bugger!

I had to resurrect this one because of my birds this weekend. Eli, the quaker, was chatting up a blue streak for HOURS at a time. More often than not he was saying, "Eli's a good bird... good bird, Eli" "Eli! Eli! Eli!"
My green cheek conure, Gracie, is still relatively new to this house and the vet said she won't talk ... NOT! She says a few little words and right to my face - whereas Eli is a closet talker most of the time.
My son went over to Eli's cage and said, "Who's a good bird ... *nothing* Who's a good bird?"
Gracie *hanging on the side of her cage* said, "ELI!"

Griffins favorite current thing to do is to scream and then scold himself, then give himself kisses and say he is a good boy. rolleyes.gif

My neighbors have little yappy schnowzers (wow wrong spelling but yappy dogs none the less)...Thumper barks like them pretty regularly...One day my best friend was in town and came over and when I got off work we came home and she went through the living room to the bathroom and forgot we had him. He went to barking as she went by (the lights were still off as I had not gotten across the room yet). She was startled and jumped hit the wall across from his cage...Thumper and I started laughing. I could hear her even after she was in the bathroom going STUPID BIRD!!! He continued to laugh at her until after she came back in the living room. Poor girl has no luck with my pets...my rottie used to be so excited to see her he would stand on the fence for her to love him and he peed on her brand new loafers in highschool ($85 pair of shoes she bought day before haha) laugh.gif

I was getting ready to go pick up our son at daycare. Ava, our Quaker, was in her cage, chattering and mumbling and singing. She saw me get my purse and keys, and suddenly went dead silent. She stared at me and dramatically asked...
"Where are YOU goin'?"
I was so flustered and amused that I put her in her travel cage and let her come with me! Now she almost always comes with me to pick up our son at daycare...Both Ava and my son get a kick out of it.

Elliot and Spree don't say much. Actually the only thing Spree says is step up. Elliot has said many things but most of them are only once. He said "whats the matter" one time. I was so excited I called EVERYONE acting like a mom hearing her baby say his first word. And he never said it again and everyone thinks it a big joke and that I made it up lol.
Elliot says "good boy go poop" When he poops lol. He started that because we would tell him to go poop before he would step up then we said good boy if he did. Now he likes to praise himself for pooping.
Around election time my husband (i know he is gross) burped and made it sound like "Barack Obama" and Elliot just laughed and laughed for about 3 minutes. Like a little boy laughing at something nasty his father did. HAHA
Someone else said this too...but when my sun conure falls to the ground my quaker says "step up". That is funny that we have the same story!

My Bird Eddy, used to hear my mother tell the pig "go lay down ozzy" and then one day, my mom walked in the room and he said "go lay down ozzy." I think I almost died laughing, it was sooo random. He would also tell her that he "was a good boy" and "give me kisses." It was soooooooooooooooo cute!!
He also had a his fair share of swearing too, not to mention I think he learned how to speak a forigen language after hearing the people next door during the summer time... Such a funny bird! I miss much!
Hope everyone is having a great Holiday! smile.gif biggrin.gif

I've been having problems with my left hand, arm, and shoulder since last June.
I finally gave in, and had a friend who's a registered massage therapist come out to the house to give me a massage. (I highly recommend this if you want to feel like a marshmallow afterwards lol).
The massage table was on one side of the livingroom, and my friend was between me and the fids.
Yogi kept trying to peek around her, and finally he pipes up with "what r ya doin", to which she laughing replied "I'm massaging your Mom" lol.
He sits there looking at her for a minute, then says "are you a bird" laugh.gif
It was so funny. She had asked if they could talk when she first came in the house, and I said "yes but they will seldom talk in front of strangers".
She was so impressed that she kept saying "Hi Muffin" to Yogi, and when she was leaving the house, she told me to make sure and tell her when he said it laugh.gif
I tried explaining that it would take more than that to get him to pick up a new phrase. She wasn't interested in my answer, saying she could tell he liked her and he would learn it hahahahhaahah.
Too funny!
Today I forgot I was still wearing my glasses, and walked up to Yogi. He reminded me with a quick bloodletting bite, and right after got all puffed up looking quite innocent, and muttered "sorry" laugh.gif

I was on the phone yesterday, and as I was talking, Adrian was pretending he was on the phone too, going "okay? okay. okay. okay, okay."

The other thing he does that I love is when he'll sit on your hand and preen the skin, saying "Awww" in this voice that sounds almost concerned. It's so endearing. wub.gif

My Green Cheek Lou Lou usually rides on my shoulder around the house. Several times while using the bathroom she has said "whatcha doin", and I've replied "taking a pee". Anyway, having this happen several times I didn't think much of it. I probably should have never said that. Bcause................
A few days later Lou Lou is with me on my shoulder again in the bathroom. All of a sudden she blerts out
in a her gravelly voice, "takin a pee, takin a pee." I started laughing so hard I almost peed on the floor! She has said this about half a dozen times now.

Well this isn't bird related, but Dad Conure's comment reminded me of what happened at the park yesterday when hubby was grandkid sitting. Our 3 year old grandson has a habit of just "whipping it out" and peeing if he's outside no matter who is around, and he did exactly that yesterday while at the playground with about 30 other kids. Hubby said all the other kids were going "ewwww...gross". Needless to say I told my daughter in law last night that she had better quit letting him do that or he's gonna go to school and think nothing of peeing on the playground...with everyone watching!! rolleyes.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif

I can finally add something to this post smile.gif
Over a week ago, I was busy typing away on my computer doing my school work and I heard Snippy my QP closet talking in the bottom of his cage [he doesn't think I can hear him when he's down there]. All of a sudden I hear a fart sound then he says uhoh lol It was really hard not to laugh. Then the rest of the day he kept making fart sounds in his cage. The only thing Snippy has said directly to me was "hello step up" I immediately picked him up and repeating it, telling him he was a good bird. That is the last time he's said it... wouldn't you know lol.
Peawee PFC can speak very clearly but rarely does it. We were holding him just talking about how beautiful he was. He said "Peawee pretty boy," we said yes Peawee pretty boy. "Peawee good boy" we said yes Peawee good boy smile.gif that was the last he has said LOL.
Now Stringbean GCC is closet talking but he waits until everyone goes to bed and I hear him covered up just a chattering up a storm can not understand what he's saying yet smile.gif

I guess while I'm on here I should post something about Joey. Joey is normally a closet talker, but there are 2 exceptions. He talks up a storm when I am in the kitchen cooking, and as soon as he sees the camera he is a showoff. Anyways, I am in the kitchen cooking dinner a few nights ago when my basset hound decides she wants to come in and make sure I didn't drop anything on the floor. There is a rule here that dogs are not allowed in the kitchen when there is open food. So I start to tell her to get out, but all I got out was "Bella" before Joey jumped in and yelled "Don't sh** on the deck!" I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. laugh.gif

When my hubby was training our Border Collie, Shep, to retrieve a dumbbell for obedience trials in our back garden, our Galah, Reg would be sitting in his cage watching the procedure with great interest....... after a couple of months, we sat on the back verandah one warm evening when we heard all the 'commands' my hubby gives the dog coming from elsewhere. We looked over, and there was Reg..... Shep! Sheeep!! SHEP! staaaay....wait......Shep, GOOOOOOOOOO.......cmcon cmon cmon cmon cmon GOOD GIRRRLLLLLLL! He had picked up on what hubby was saying to Shep during her training! GO was when he sent her off for the dumbbell he had just tossed...... cmon cmon etc, was him encouraging the dog to come in quickly, and the good girl was obviously the vocal reward at the end of the excercise....... was so funny, he would sit and repeat it over and over.
Another saying he had was "Ger off me back!!" Taught by our kids, who thought a friends saying was worth repeating!
Hubby was so paranoid about being bitten because Reg would play a game of 'get the finger' at feeding time, loving the play, that every time hubby opened the cage, Reg would mimic him....Reeeg, no, noooo Reg....REG NO GERROFF!!!
Reg was our much loved bird till he passed over, bless him, he was such a great family member.

This is a great thread!
We had a cockatoo who would laugh hysterically! He would wing his head around, flap his feathers up and down and just laugh and laugh for like 30 minutes at a time! Sometimes he would mutter before this and then laugh like he was telling jokes smile.gif
He was a screamer, and one day I just go really frustrated because ignoring it didn't seem to work (he was 12 when we got him, so he was rather set in his ways!) so I tried covering him with a blanket - He screamed the f word and yelled BAD BOY at the top of his lungs over and over until I uncovered him! So after that I went back to ignoring the bugger when he screamed! lol
