Benjy turned 10 on Sept. 1 (designated birthday, I had to count backwards and guess). When I was a kid, I thought budgies lived maybe five to seven years at BEST, but then in those days we didn't know a fraction of what we do now about what a captive bird requires. Benjy is just as feisty and lively as ever, and not elderly in the least. Still following Clyde around like the faithful little acolyte he is, and now he's even mostly converted Jade to put up with him, through sheer grit and determination. She still pulls his tail when he gets on her nerves, but she even allows him into her CAGE now, which practically counts as a miracle. I should have named him Scrappy. LOL
I guess his persistence paid off since both Clyde and Jade seem to be tolerating him, or at least have resigned themselves that there's nothing they can do to stop him.
