Ok I could use some help. I think it's the female that keeps coming over to me when I come to the cage. I tried apples, chicken, califlower, kix cereal, cherries. She takes them and drops them. All they want is sunflower seeds. What kind of treats can I get, or keep trying for rewards.

Bonnie's absolute favourites are pumpkin seeds and capsicum seeds - but I have to watch my fingers when I offer them to her, as she goes crazy over them! Oh, she also likes mushrooms, just the dark inside bits of them.

Thank you, I will see if I can find them around here were I am at. Not much up here in the north so I might have to go to the city next week.

Oscar loves crackers or a small piece of whole wheat bread. Be sure to dunk it in a little water first because he will and then he looses it. Seems almost anything I eat.... he will eat too but those are some his favorites.

Hi! Gypsie and Tango love almonds and dried fruit - although you have to be careful with additives and bad stuff in dried fruit it you buy it!! Make sure to go organic or dry your own, I dry my.own with a.dehydrator :-) their favourite by far is dried kiwi fruit, closely follows by dried strawberry pieces!

Just about anything that would be healthy for you can be tried, as long as it isn't on the forbidden list. Pass on anything salty or sugary. She might like a bit of whole grain toast. If she hasn't been exposed to the things you're trying to give her now, she may reject them many times before she decides to try a bite. I would keep trying and as you do, eat some of it yourself and make a big show of really enjoying it.

Oh good lots of stuff to try. I separated them today, the male is really noise, and the female is always trying to rip apart the cage hoping for an opening. I separated them because the male seems to be mean to her always biting her or pulling feathers. He made her yips quite a few times today.

Air-popped popcorn is a good treat-- one of Ralph's favorites. Serve it plain-- no oil used to make it, and no butter or salt.

Casey loves pumpkin seeds too and tiny bits of rye toast. I just bought a new popcorn airpopper, never thought to offer Casey some, I will try tomorrow. For dinner tonight, she has a small piece of plain chicken, some rice and a little piece of watermelon. She likes to try anything we eat I just save her some before I add any seasonings

Caseysmom, your post just reminded me that Bonnie likes steamed white rice and she always seems interested in little bits of meat (although my hubby thinks we shouldn't encourage her to eat meat, just in case she decides to peck our eyes out one day... ).

Lots of good ideas, I will have to get stuff next time I go get food. I used to have an air popper. But no more. So I guess I will have to look for one now. Thanks for all the ideas.

Ok if I do pumpkin seeds on my own do they have to be roasted, or can it be right from the pumpkin?

I just buy Casey raw hulled pumpkin seeds from the bulk barn, so if you already have fresh pumpkins you can use them from it without roasting.

My hubby can get me some beans that were harvested, he don't know the name of them. He said they look like kidney beans, but more like a pinto bean. Can we used them for the birds. On the main page for food table, it says most beans. So I was just wondering.
I had a busy morning, picking seeds from squash, acorn and summer squash. Washed and now drying. I found out the female likes the summer squash seeds
