I just found one of my Quakers on the floor breathing hard and the other one trying to get him to fly back up to their house. I picked him up and could tell he was in the throws of dying. It wasn't but a few minutes and he was gone. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Should I leave him around his mate so she can mourn? They have been together for 3 years. He was only 5 or so I think based on what the person said when I bought him. Any suggestions are much appreciated! Thanks!!

Sorry for your loss. I think it would be best to take him away, once his mate has seen that he has passed away. You might consider having an avian vet do a necropsy to determine what caused his passing, and perhaps have his surviving mate checked by a vet too.

Oh, no. Sorry to hear about your poor birdy. Cnyguy is right, it might be worth investigating the cause of death and getting an avian vet check on your other one.
