I just wanted to share my new picture of Oscar building his 5th house. I call it a house because it has rooms and you can see he is adding a big patio.... lol.
It is absolutely amazing to see him in action and everyone who sees his house cannot believe what he does. He is quite the little boy and builds this house whenever I am in the room. Otherwise he is busy following me around and trying to spend as much time with me as possible. Just love the little guy. He will be six years old in December. I am using the picture in my profile now.
I have a short film of him building however, sorry I cannot post it as it is too large in size.
Have a great day.

Wow, that is amazing! I wonder if my Bonnie would do the same if I gave her access to some sticks? Only one way to find out... .

Nice to see that Oscar is still busy with his construction projects. He is quite a skilled builder. Not all QPs will build, but it's always worth a try. My QP Ralph likes to arrange and rearrange his sticks, but has no plans to build anything permanent-- he always squawks for me to pull his stick structures apart so he can start a new one.

Oscar doesn't use sticks anymore. Once I introduced him to the tie-wraps (12-15" black plastic) he never wanted another stick. I do help him a little to get started. I have built a little base out of wood and once I put a few tie-wraps around the area, he does the rest.
Of course now he has me trained so that when he does a little squeak, that means pass me a tie-wraps. About 40 times a day I get up and get him one and pass it to him but if I say "No get it yourself" he will. He has about 5000 tie-wraps on the go. too much huh. He does also like strips of cardboard for fill. In his bedroom I remove the dirty Kleenex from the previous evening and then put in new Kleenex as this helps keep the poop under control. Seems he likes the little extra help.

That is amazing! I would love for Tango to be able to do something similar (he tries hard with whatever he can get) but if I let them start building both get so territorial and start wanting to breed... As they share a cage and I don't want to breed them I have to be a mean mum and take away all nesting materials as soon as spring comes round... Tango loves to build all through winter though, but nothing of this magnitude!! And whenever it goes just a little wrong or he can't get a piece right he destroys it in a fit of temper!

Those sticks are amazing. Niki builds with continuous form computer paper (remember that?) and paper lunch bags. Yes, you can still get continuous feed paper!

Ralph likes to weave the cable ties between the bars of his cage-- but, as with his sticks, he always squawks for me to take them apart so he can start all over again.

When Oscar is finished building his house, it would be fun to see a picture. Casey has never attempted anything elaborate like that.
