Now that Pidge is nearing adulthood I'd be interested in knowing how much food I should offer him and if he has eating times. Currently he has free access to food but eats very little. Prefers to scavenge.

We've always fed Bonnie pellets (1-2 tablespoons daily) along with a 2-3 pinches (less than one teaspoon) of medium parrot mix. We put this in first thing in the morning. The other foods like fruit/veg/nuts we give her later on in the day when we get home from work & she's out of the cage. Bonnie is a smallish parrot (fluctuates between 95-105 grams). Hope this helps.

Oscar gets too many pellets and seeds from me... cause every day I empty his bowl and throw them out... duhhh... you think I would learn huh. Mostly he eats fruits and vegetables or from my plate. He does eat about a tablespoon of pellets daily from my hand... and then a few more before bed. He does not have food where he sleeps... so he eats a little extra before his blanket goes on.

Thank you
Pidge rarely eats pellets. He might eat one if I offer it as a treat. I make up a mixture of as many grains that are in the house (cooked) add egg, vegetables, sprouted seeds and he loves it but there is so much wastage. I've thought of pellets only in the morning and his porridge in evening. I think I should be giving him less going by the wastage.

My birds always have access to pellets. I feed them random treats (usually safflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds), fruits, veggies, bread (whole wheat, when im eating a sammich or something), or other random things through the day. Yoshi has always been between 95-98 grams, and Melly around 89-91.
