Well for whatever reason..and I mean whatever cause I'm at a loss to explain it but it seems like I have my il mio bambino back..just like a little baby boy.. now I'm not sure so I thought I'd ask,is the spring thing coming to an end? I mean,i wouldn't think so as these are the longest daylight hours to come yet..is removed all the paper toys and things associated with nesting, and removed the papers from his cagetop pans, and no now have removed the pans altogether..put him asleep, covered, earlier the past couple days..don't know if this worked but it's as if his hormones just turned off ! How bout any of you with hormone crazed kids? Thinking about you,pidgesmom..is there a time when it just goes away and they return to normal?

One thing or two in forgot to add..he has shown more interest in flying exercise..back and forth from stand to stand, and he's been eating more. I know from deer hunting days, that bucks generally don't eat much and spend the day running around looking for a mate, then off to another..they actually lose weight during this time and only stop for water. I'm sure this is true of other creatures as well...so hopefully a good sign to come as we've been good pals over the past few days.

Hey Dinucci! I am happy to hear that you got over that period! and I hope it is really finished for you! From what I read it must be very though For Sora since we try to know each other (or I don't know maybe he is young for the hormones? 3yo), he is OK I guess. At least he does not fly across the room to bite me. But I set his nighttime to 11 hours each day and more in weekends. I think as a nesting behavior, or just for play, he carries sticks inside and outside of his cage. When he drops them accidentally, he gets angry lol. It is fun to watch when he really thinks how to get the stick to the top perch. And he is OK with the papers, he just shreds them. So we are OK for this year I think. I am sorry, I cannot help you much like you help me since I am new to these, bu I wanted to share.

Sora is old enough to go into a hormone phase and the gathering of materials for nesting is a sure sign. Buddy is 15 months. Since I removed all nesting material and the pans on top of his cage,he's been a sweetie, but he did shred a couple of his rope toys with beads strung on the strings. I came home and the kitchen floor was littered with little beads and such and the rope and strings deftly arranged on the now wire cage top! He immediately went into beast mode and defended his little work of art! He must have been mad that I removed everything prior given how fast he made a new nest..but I removed this one too.

ahahahah you devil! how can you remove his art so heartlessly! What if you let him do whatever he wants? wont he get bored after a little time? His aggressiveness is a big issue I know but cant you keep up with it? or you just need to remove everything for now it seems. Is he aggressive just when you try to remove his nest or other times too? Although sora tries to bring sticks around he could not "build" something yet I want to see his art though..

Yeah I'm a meanie hahaha..my girlfriend is the good cop,I'm the bad cop...but I got tired of him screeching out the window and having to remove things with tongs! When he started doing fly by biting sorties,I had to put an end to it..but I must say..seeing him in this natural state was often funny..digging his head in the pan and charging me..one time I held a small red towel in front of him,and when he charged it I held it up higher..like a matador! So he'd jump up and bite the towel and actually hang from it..kinds like a little macho game and took his mind off other things I had to remove from his pan. The head whips, grunts, growls and antics were priceless.

I am sorry if I offended you. It must be so hard really. Mine was just the idea like you do not remove the egg since she will get bored of it. Maybe at the back corner of the cage or somewhere else you would not touch so much, he may make one? I know I am nowhere to advise you and really hope that everything goes well and your cutie pie is back..

We can all learn from each other by sharing experiences for sure ! One thing that I think is tied into removing his nesting items is that he communicates better and is learning new tricks and words. It's as if he has a new interest twards training. It was getting kinda bad before with Poltergeist like behavior hahah possessed bird ! He would actually grumble words where I knew he way saying something human, but couldn't understand him other than he was grumbling under his breath "buddy go to perch" in a gravely voice haha.
