Pidge is limiting his communication to squarks, whimpers (when he wants something) and other noises. He doesn't practise his vocabulary any more and doesn't use words.
Is this a stage? I a bit sad. Rather than chatter to himself be just demands me to be with him. I am biting the bullet and leaving him in his cage for a while. Pity the poor neighbours.

I think it's normal. Bonnie doesn't talk as much as she used to - but she does practise her words, whistles and sound effects when she thinks we can't hear her. It would not surprise me if Pidge does this when you are out of earshot. Yes, it's kind of sad, but there must be a reason (we just don't know what it is). Bonnie only makes horrible demanding squawking noises etc. when she knows we're home and she wants to be out of the cage. When we're out she knows we've left and doesn't make noise for more than 5 minutes (we managed to sneak around one day just to check up on her). So I wouldn't worry about the neighbours - you probably get the worst of the noise. If I were you I'd still just keep his out of cage time as normal and pretend not to notice (so it doesn't become a 'thing' in his head).

Hey pidgesmum..buddy does this sometimes as well..not sure why,but when it ends,he'll chat up a storm and even say things I didn't think he knew ! I call it a learning curve..kinda like a kid going thru a growth spurt, wherein he stops or stops learning new stuff for a bit, then picks it up to a larger degree. I too listen to him talk ,mid day,by himself from the top of the stairs. If I successfully sneak up on him,I'll find he has his eyes closed like he's asleep, but chattering away on his sisal rope. He also suns himself and talks too..I'll he does this with me present,I'll fly talk back to him and go thru his Repertoire! Then add new words..not to worry kiddo ! He wimpers..kind of.like a puppy "are arf" when laura picks him up..what's up with that? Never does it to me...I just get the sceams, head whips and bites..Ohh and mooches!

Pidge is very sooky at the moment. Spends most of the day on my shoulder. He comes to my lap and presents his head for head and beak rubs for long periods of time. He whimpers if there is food around or he wants something.

Now he looks so sad sometimes as if I castrated him..but he let's me pick him up and even out of his cage ! Maybe I'll sing to him..I'm thinking joe dolce.." why you look a so sad" shut up a you face..funny italian song

That is sooooo cute... oh I wish Oscar would do that with me. He does get excited when I sing but he usually just scratches himself...or chews his foot as if he wants to join in... but just doesn't. Me and Oscar loved this video.... awesome... lol lol.... I am sure to play it again
