I have had "Jack" now since January 31st. The lady told me he would be a year old in April. He has come a long way with me. He became so lovable and friendly....however the last 2 days he has become moody and nippy. Somebody told me it could be mating season? Any ideas on why his mood changed the last 2 days? Anything I should look for?

Welcome to you and Jack! Yes, to me it sounds like hormones are kicking in. Our Bonnie has many mood changes, even from day to day. One day my husband is her favourite and the next it's me (and she bites my husband). It can be frustrating, but you'll get used to it. Importantly, don't hold a grudge against Jack, just try to start each day new without consequences from the day before. If it's mating season where you are, take away anything that would encourage him to build nests and if he's too aggressive it won't hurt for his out-of-cage time to be reduced a bit. It's funny, we were going to name Bonnie "Jack" until we found out from her DNA test that she's a girl (I suppose "Jacquie" would have been OK, but it just didn't seem to suit her).

Welcome... Jack needs a lot of attention... so as much as possible talk to him and socialize with him when you can. They are very protective of their "stuff"... like his cage and territory and his food and toys. It takes a long time before you can clean the cage without being bit... it has been 7 years for me... and my Oscar still does not want my hand in his cage... so be careful of those things.
I am hoping you are keeping his diet varied... lots of vegetables and fruits... pellets is a must.. and very little seed. These things are important to keeping a healthy bird. Also... they need to bathe... Oscar will have a rotten day.. screaming all day long.. then ask for a bath ... which always calms him down. Most Quakers love the water.. some once a week ... some once every two weeks. In this house it is usually twice a week. Good luck.
