Keeping in mind that all links must comply with forum guidelines .... users must be aware that they may NOT post links where they will personally benefit from a member following that link ... Those types of situations need to come to the moderating team via PM for approval.
This thread is to post links about other animal species. The idea was formed in the "Horse Auction" thread by Jaytee, because I had mentioned how much therapeutic horseback riding had benefitted me and Siobhan had made a comment about an article that she had written about a therapeutic riding program.
So, here is the link to the Northwest Therapeutic Riding Center, our local therapeutic riding program:
www.nwtrc.org
Also, the link to the PATH International, the organization that governs therapeutic riding programs (formerly the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association):
www.pathintl.org
I will also include a link for an organization that helps children and adults, mainly from dysfunctional families but also with a wide range of issues, by utilizing animals as their "therapists". I have no personal knowledge of this program, but am thinking about volunteering there. It is called Animals as Natural Therapy and here is their website:
www.animalsasnaturaltherapy.org
This thread will be pinned for easy access.
