Our Quaker parrot is very attached to my girlfriend. She only allows her to handle her and gets aggressive towards everyone else. She freaks out every time we have sex. Why does she do this? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Hi there, Billyrae, from Australia!. Welcome to the Forum. It sounds as though you are experiencing the results of extreme JEALOUSY. In your quaker's eyes, your girlfriend is the one she likes most, therefore the one who is her 'mate'. This is a common quaker - and general parrot - trait. When you have a bedroom encounter with your girlfriend, if possible make sure your quaker can't see you both. The other thing is that it would be good if you and your girlfriend arrange for you to spend more time with the bird while she is 'out' (even if you have to pretend she's gone out). Or else you can be the person to give your quaker her favourite treats, instead of your girlfriend. It sounds as though your quaker needs to relate to BOTH of you, not just one. There are several members of this Forum who have quakers accustomed to being affectionate to more than one member of the household. It may take a little bit of work (depends on the individual bird), but it definitely pays off. Hope this helps! Keep us informed.

I actually smiled, too. I read the heading and was like "Oh, lovely...a spam pornography site or something."
When it was actually a real question, I was relieved. π
You got some great advice. I hope everything is working out! π

I donβt think having a parrot who can talk and imitate sounds is a good idea on the bedroom.....just saying lol
