I have owned and raised many quakers over 4 years but now have a problem with a pair of nestlings 6 weeks old. i have been hand feeding them with a syringe for two weeks and their behaviour is so unlike any others that I have raised. i am accustomed to babies asking and eager for food as soon as they see me. These two are not calling out when I know that their crops are empty and they will not come to the cage door except to fly to the floor and escape this human. When I put my hand in to pick them up they are still retreating in panic.Increasing the frequency of handling has not helped. They will accept about 5 ml of the feed mix before refusing any more, but they are not eager or demanding. My approach and treatment to babies has not changed over the years but this behaviour is puzzling. My first posting since joining hope Ive done it correctly Katy

Hello Katy and welcome to the forum. I am not familiar with such little babies however... I do know that many illnesses will affect young chicks more than the older ones. I am wondering if perhaps a blood test is in order to rule out any viruses or odd blood counts.
You seem very experienced in this field therefore, there must be something not available to the human eye.
Best wishes.
