Hi everyone! A young blue quaker will be joining my family around 21st Jan! Can't wait!! We've never had a quaker before and we're keen to learn all we can about keeping our new feathered family member healthy and happy. We're in Brisbane, Australia.

Absolutely! Visiting this Sunday (a fortnight after meeting) and picking up a fortnight after this visit.
I never knew a fortnight could be such a long time!

Hi May, I am in Australia too (lived in Melbourne all my life, then moved to Darwin around April last year). Welcome to the Forum! This is a great group of people who will always help if you ask a question. It doesn't matter if you think it's a silly question, either - I've asked plenty! There are a couple of other Aussies on here too, but some haven't checked in for a while. Hope you enjoy reading all the threads and posts. Good luck for your Sunday visit to your new friend!

Hello and welcome to the forum. I know when I was getting my Quaker I was very excited as well. When I would be away from him for a half hour... I couldn't wait to get home and see him again. That was 7 years ago... lol. My Quaker Oscar is 9 years old now and I am still excited when I get home and find him all excited to see me too.
Gotta love these little ones.

Hello and welcome! (and hello everyone! Sorry for the long absence!) You are in for a treat! Quaker parrots are amazing. They are BONKERS though, so read as much as you can! Make sure you educate yourself on the right food to feed them (they should always have a pellet based diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables) and a suitable cage. I'm sure you already know this, but check the bar spacing on any cage before you by it. Bar spacing for a quaker parrot should NEVER exceed three quarters of an inch. And a good playstand of some description will likely come in handy too. Let us know how you get on! He/she looks adorable.

Hi and welcome to the forum. There are a lot of experienced Quaker owners here who are very willing to help in any way they can.
Hope this helped a little. Have a Great day today and a better one tomorrow. Remember that 10 minutes of training today will bring hours of joy later.
