Hello all you Quaker lovers or parrot lovers out there! My Quaker ,Beowulf , has been with me for 12 years, and he is 17 years old. I am a 65 year old retired American , and Beowulf and I are our own best friends. We spend our days watching television and keeping each other company, but we go out once or twice a month. Beowulf loves it when I bring out his Flight Suit which allows me to take him out and go "Bye-Bye!" He loves sitting on my shoulder and meeting new people in the town. Beo is a "Service Bird", and helps me greatly. I get muscle spasms in my legs which could cause me to fall down or crash my car, but Beowulf senses the oncoming spasms before I do. He then Screams to let me know that the spasms are coming, which gives me time to stop the car or find a place to sit. I would not trade him for all the sunflower seeds in the world ( That's what I tell him ) ! Both Beowulf and I have trouble walking, but we keep each other cheered up. Well , we better go now . We are happy to meet you all !

Wow, what a clever quaker and what a great name for him! Welcome to the Forum. My husband and I have a blue quaker called Bonnie and we are in Australia. We look forward to your tales of the adventures you and Beowulf get up to!

Welcome to you both. I am sure you know a lot about Quakers since you have had one for so many years. It is great that he is trained to wear the Flight Suit to go outside and wow... that is one clever bird to give you warnings before the spasms occur. Smart little guys aren't they?
My Quaker is a 9 year old male Oscar. The only tricks he knows is to shake one paw and then the other... lol. Oh... he is also poop trained.... (unless it is a total accident). Sure does help keep the mess down.
Glad you are here and we hope to hear more from you.
