I bought myself a very expensive robot vacuum cleaner for Christmas. I've never been a good housekeeper and the mess Pidge makes!! It works a treat. Floors need a quick spot check and I'm right. I also use Eko works cleaner which has no odour and seems to work well on poo. ekoworxstore.com/ I'm gradually building a routine. I don't know why I keep putting off cleaning his cage, it really is not that bad using the power hose in this heat. We've had quite a few days around 40 degrees (104 farenheit) so a bit of splashing is good. I also bought myself a robot vacuum for Christmas. I had been saving up for a while and it is completely worth the money! Every night when the birds go to their sleeping cages, the vacuum runs under their daytime cages while I clean the papers and replace foraging toys for the morning. It’s saving me so much time.

Yes our little guys are messy. And sometimes they do it in ways that are so very spectacular ! I had an experience which closely mirrored an event that I read about in a parrot book -- " As I escorted a friend into the parrots' room I was telling my friend that they were no trouble at all. At just that moment my parrot backed up to the cage bars, squatted down and released a stream of poop 4 feet across the room in a breathtaking arc !" I have determined that all parrots have what scientists call "Racial memory," meaning that All parrots know the things that happen to all other parrots! I am a profound believer that they are using this vast knowledge as a basis for their plot for world domination ! :-)

Ever have your fids ride on your hand and attack the evil vacuum cleaner while vacuuming?

No.... lmaooooo... Oscar is so scared of the vacuum cleaner that he runs away as soon as he sees me going in that direction to get it out. He has told me many many times... Vacuum is out of the picture... lol.
His previous owner used to put the vacuum hose right into his cage to clean it while he was in there.... now he is terrified and I really do not blame him.

Yes - it took months to teach my flock that it's "just a sound - don't worry". Lela and Lolita were the first two to be calm around it and the others quickly learned from them. Lola would still fly to my hand to "help" defend me from the evil vacuum by attacking it for me. And if any of the vacuum parts were left on the floor - it was quickly attacked by the others. But they didn't mind stepping up onto it while I was putting the vacuum away.

ha ha ha.... dinucci... your Quaker sounds so much like Oscar. No sooner that I remove the newspaper around his cage... that he will poop on the floor. I can't scold him because at least he didn't poop on me... lol
I go through tons of newspaper. Good thing I get it for free.

Haha yes Julianna ! He is the proficient pest ! Here I am having a mug of tea at 230am..couldn't sleep. Had such a fun day with him yesterday that I'm looking forward to playing with him and hanging new toys I bought at a bird fair the other day. Maybe I should wake him up right now and this time...I'm the pest !

lol dinucci... Good luck with the toy playing. I have a huge box full of various toys for my Quaker... and he doesn't want anything to do with them. I am his most important toy... lol.
I feel like you many times where I want to disturb his sleep... only because he has disturbed mine so many time. But alas... I am the soft hearted one and just cannot do it...

He doesn't seem to want any of the new toys I got for him..I think he may be more interested in mating now as his behavior twards it has been building up for a while now...see the "poor pidge" thread..some of the new toys he downright hates..little brat..
