Hi, I haven’t gotten my baby yet, but I am ready to purchase his cage. I was wondering if I could get some recommendations for cages please? I would really appreciate input. Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum!  This article about cages for QPs from the companion site, quakerparrots.com, may help you choose the right cage for your new QP. My QP Ralph has a cage similar to this one and is very happy with it. The open tops can be dangerous though, so we never use it-- it's always secured closed. The bar spacing, as the article says, is important. 5/8 inch spacing works well with QPs. |

I have the exact same one as easttex and my quaker loves it. I also have another large one in the kitchen with the open top just make sure that if you open the top that it is not liable to shut on its' own.

Just be careful cages that open at the top have injured some parrots when they close unexpectedly. Please monitor your Quaker when the top door is used

Please monitor your Quaker when the top door is used This home (cage doesn't open at the top, it has a side hatch/door right near the side top so the animal can climb out to use the top play gym without opening the main front door. Sorry if my wording was confusing, it's a door/opening the exact same as where the food/water bowls are that open, just at a side right near the top edge of the cage. It's a side opening door, not a top opening, it's a parrot safe solid door with gravity swing latch/catch. |
