Evening all,
I'm looking for the ultimate bribery foods to aid my taming of Kiki. I've tried the follow in with varying results;
Millet, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, fresh banana(he likes quite a bit), cucumber, rocket leaves, dried banana, peanut, a UK cereal which is similar to captain crunch.
So yeah fresh banana has been most successful. Shopping day is tomorrow so looking for awesome bribe food:)
Thanks in advance Rick

Hey Rick... you mentioned earlier that Kiki liked the cereal? If he loves it.. use that as bribery food. Oscar's favorites are small marsh mellows, small pieces of grain bread and a little cracker. Oh.... and peas... green snap peas... he loves those the best but he wants me to open the pod... cause he is spoiled. lol. Oh... pasta too.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah he liked the cereal but I have no idea how sugary or what else is in it. Its like grain hoops with added vitamins etc. Oooo pasta didn't know they can eat that.
Never heard of snap peas. Probably a different word for something else we have:)
I will grab some whole grain pasta tomorrow for sure.

You will have a lot of fun working out what he likes and doesn't like. Bonnie LOVES pumpkin seeds and cashew nuts, but you need to go easy on those and also sunflower seeds, due to the high fat content. Make sure you make yourself aware of the safe/unsafe foods list (if you're not already) so you don't feed him something toxic by accident. (See thread in Diet section)

Plain air-popped popcorn (no butter, salt or oil) works well with both Ralph the QP and Scooter the CAG to try to coax them to do something (or not do something). A small piece of walnut or sliver of almond will sometimes work with Ralph, or a tiny piece of well aged extra-sharp cheddar cheese. Scooter likes some salt-free whole wheat crackers (can't remember the brand) that I get just for her (Ralph won't eat them and neither will I-- they taste like cardboard to me ). Experiment a little and I'm sure you'll hit on something that Kiki will like a lot. There's an illustration of snap peas here along with a description of them. Ralph loves them, and they're a regular part of his diet and aren't reserved as a treat. I learned a long time ago from relatives in the UK that lots of things are called by different names here in the US than they are over there.

Beowulf loves crackers, cooked meat and (Most Favorite ) boiled shrimp !! He is also fond of warm soup such as vegetable soup, and clam chowder. Warm pasta dishes such as macaroni and cheese and Italian spaghetti with sauce are also extreme favorites ! Apple juice and mango juice are very well liked too !
Hope this helps !

It doesn't surprise me that Oscar and Beowulf like the same things. After all, "Great birds tink alike !" Does Oscar laugh? Beo will be watching TV with me when he will suddenly begin laughing like a little green fiend ! The impressive part is that he nearly always laughs during a funny scene. He also laughs are scenes that have dogs. He seems to think that "barkydogs" are hilarious !!

I hope you don't actually mean "bribe" food. I do hope you mean training treats. Because I don't want to overfeed - I typically use one seed from a ball off the stem of millet spray. They consume it fast so they are ready to work on more behavior training.
I find that using the "touch" behavior is very useful for many applications. This behavior is where the fid goes to the tip of a shish kabob stick to touch it. When this behavior is learned well, you can ask your fid to go across a room to "touch" the tip for a CT.
Hope this helped a little. Have a Great day today and a better one tomorrow. Remember that 10 minutes of training today will bring hours of joy later.

Bonnie and I were watching the news once when Vladimir Putin was shown briefly, laughing - and Bonnie started laughing too, for quite a while! She also loves horror movies and comedies with women screaming in them (e.g., Sharknado) and laughs lots at those. I'm sure one of the forum members said her quaker liked the vampire series/movie called 'Dark Shadows' and laughed at that.

Please never think that you are stupid nor sound stupid. There is no such thing as a "bad" or "stupid" question. I'm sorry = Click/Treat. All of us have been in a situation that we don't know something. And I sometimes forget that not everybody knows what clicker training is. I have used it for so many years with so many different fids, I think everyone should know. I probably mention it in all my posts.
A clicker is used to capture the moment a behavior is done. When using clicker training, most fids that I know look forward to training as soon as they see the clicker. I beleave that they like the mental challenge of trying to figure out what exactly we want. And when they get it right they get a reward. Rewards don't have to be food, it just has to be something that the fid likes.
Hope this helped a little. Have a Great day today and a better one tomorrow. Remember that 10 minutes of training today will bring hours of joy later.

Oscar laughs quite a bit because I laugh quite a bit... lol. His laugh sounds just like me and most Quaker parronts would say that as well. He also laughs when he goes into his talking spells. He says numerous words and sentences but not on command... more when he feels like it.
He learns new words every day and will stop saying some of the older words he knew. Guess that would be because I give him new words to say.
