I think the time in care has made Pidge more eager to please. He is now instigating play for the first time. He asked for "up" and then again. He wanted to do an "up" ladder which we hadn't done in months. Now he wants to do it everyday and I make my voice get higher and higher as he goes. At the top we both laugh hysterically and on one occasion he bobbed up and down. Then we shake hands. I'm trying to get him to do "down" with limited success.
He also demands the "tickle your tummy" game where I catch him as he runs from shoulder to shoulder with much shrieking from both of us. It is getting very, very tedious but he loves it.
He has started hiding under my jacket and we do the whole "Where is Pidge?" routine. When he is revealed he is quite hysterical. I'm trying to teach him "Here I am" On one occasion he climbed through to my sleeve and came out at the wrist.
I have a new kitchen and I deliberately left an open space on top of the pantry to put ornamental pots and bottles. He knew it was for him and races around and around the bottles. It has become his territory.
When I took Pidge to his minder I thought he would hate the little box which was made for him to fly here from Melbourne. He loved it and was blown away by the GPS and chattered and laughed the whole way. I've put the box on top of his night cage and he plays "cubbies" in it.
I am a very quiet person and have never made so much noise, including singing, as I do now.

What can I say? It's a match made in heaven! Yeah, these little conflicted creatures have a way of bringing us out of our shells. They have a habit of surprising us! Glad you're having a great time playing with him.

Sounds like a case of absence making the heart grow fonder.

Sounds like a case of absence making the heart grow fonder. ....exactly what I was thinking! Fonder, that is, until he starts taking you for granted again.

Awwww... that is such a wonderful story. Great to hear things are going so well pidgesmum. That is one thing I love about my Quaker too. He makes me sing and laugh every single day. How can that not be a good thing?
