Hello, Guys! My wife and I were looking for a new family member and we decided to Adopt a Baby Quaker!, The little guy was only 2-week olds when we got him. (Per the Seller) I have to admit that is has been a great experience for us having and taking care of our new baby parrot and we felt in love with our little green. As a good parent, you guys can imagine im worried about his Future and the best of him he is 5 weeks now looking strong and healthy! We have no Breeding/training experience other than a couple of baby wild bird we have saved/feed and released after we feel they are ready. So if you guys have Any Tips/Trick to feed, take care, and train our baby Quaker they will be very appreciated!ALSO! he is 5 weeks old now and a noticed he started to lose couple feathers from his tail and wings ( about 5 in total) is this normal? or something we should be concern about? he looks real healthy, active and playful. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! Photobucket no longer works well for posting photos here, but another member recommended tinypic.com, and that does the trick. Would love to see Pikito's photos! I can see he is a cutie from your avatar. Five weeks is far too young for a normal molt, and feather loss outside of the molt is cause for concern. It's always a good idea to get a new bird companion vet-checked anyway, and I would schedule a visit for Pikito soon if I were you. A good avian vet can be very helpful for health and behavioral issues. For basic Quaker information, I recommend you start here: www.quakerparrots.com/quaker-parrot-articles/quakerparrots.com is the companion site to this one, and there is a lot of information there to get you started. There are also useful posts on this forum that have been pinned in the various boards that can help. If you have questions, people here will do their best to help. Welcome again to all of you!🙂

Welcome, Pikito and stevenh. I am very impressed that you are up to feeding and taking care of such a young bird. He looks very cute! Easttex is right, I think you should book in an avian vet visit for Pikito, just in case. Hope you enjoy reading the wealth of information on here and the companion website.

Welcome to the Forum! If your parrot is molting, he is probably older than the seller led you to believe. I agree that a visit to an avian certified veterinarian would be a good idea. I'd also suggest that you read some good books on Quaker parrots, like Mattie Sue Athan's Guide to the Quaker Parrot or Shelly Lane's book, available on the companion site quakerparrots.com. You'll find lots of information on the care and feeding of Quaker parrots in those sources.

Welcome to the forum. It always surprises me that a breeder would such a young parrot go. That is not for the bird or for you. When they are young babies they need formula and need to be feed every 4 hours.
Your little one does look healthy so you must be doing a good job. Keep to the soft foods for now because his beak is too soft to break seeds.
You are going to have a lot of fun with your new Quaker... I know I got more than I thought I was getting when I purchased Oscar. But he is the love of my life. Some days I wonder if he is part dog because he is so smart and follows me everywhere... lol
Best wishes.
