A couple weeks ago I took Yoshi to the bird fair in Springfield, IL. He was so good during the whole thing! When we first entered the building, he saw some big macaws which frightened him and he flew off my shoulder. I retrieved him, and after that he stayed on my shoulder the whole time! He's never been around this many birds, or this many people. We both really enjoyed it.

Wow, Zim, that's really cool! He just sat on your shoulder with no harness or anything? We don't seem to have bird shows like that in Australia (at least not with parrots free to fly around). I would love to have seen it! 😊

That must have been a real extravaganza for all of Yoshi senses. I'm afraid I would not be able to suppress my own impulses at a bird fair.

Yep, biteybird, he rode on my shoulder the whole time. Since he's clipped, he knows he can't fly well and doesn't try unless something startles him. Before taking him to the bird fair, I tried slowly introducing him to being around people by taking him to some pet friendly stores while I shopped. He did great every time, so I decided to bring him to the bird fair with me. I had a travel cage in the truck just in case he had any issues.
Most of the birds that were there were for sale and in cages. The macaws in the background belonged to a vendor who makes and sells those stands the macaws are perched on. He was there last year with them too, so I'm sure he goes to many bird fairs with them and they are comfortable in that setting.

That's so amazing! In your photo I can see that Yoshi is really looking at the macaws intently. He's a handsome boy. Well done!
