please help, my Quaker parrot may have ingested moldy food, he seems very quiet, puffed up, overall just not himself. What Can I do to help him ? I have been trying to get in touch with his vet, and not having success. It is now Friday evening and I worry that he will not get help soon enough. I have covered his cage 3/4 up to help keep him warm, but what else?

I'm sorry to read this. It really is a vet you need. The only thing I can think of is to call the Pet Poison Helpline. I don't know if they can help or not. www.petpoisonhelpline.comI'm afraid that's all I have to offer, other than to keep him warm and comfortable, give him fresh water, and continue trying to find an avian vet that you can at least get on the telephone. Please let us know how he does. Good luck.

A vet visit is definitely needed. If you can't get in to see your regular vet, try to find one who is at least experienced with parrots who can examine your Quaker. If there is an emergency vet clinic near you, try that one.

We've called the ASPCA poison control hotline in the past-- seems similar to the link that Easttex posted, not sure they can help... www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-controlI don't have any suggestions beyond what the others have said, unfortunately... but good luck with your little one, sorry we can't be of more help!

I am wondering how did you make out? Did you manage to find a vet?
