Does anyone have an opinion about moving the shout box to a more prominent place? Posts there can languish for days.

It could potentially be effective to move it, but it doesn't look like the location is configurable. You can turn it off, but not change the location.

Maybe it would be better to remove it, at least for now. I think it can be discouraging to new members to not get a response to something that is supposedly more or less immediate. If there is no response in a reasonable time, I think they are less likely to come back to use the boards. It could be a nice feature if the forum gets busier again, but as it is, it doesn't seem to be benefitting anyone.

That's a good point. It really doesn't serve much functional purpose, although I do see you just gave someone advice in the past couple of days, so I guess I will give them a few days to make sure they see it. Does anyone else have any thoughts/objections on the concept of removing the shoutbox?

Me either - I'm *guessing* many don't and I agree with Easttex that it could be frustrating for people who put a question down there & don't get a response.
