Just letting you know that Oscar will be going to the sitters for 1 1/2 weeks. I am going to Thompson Manitoba to visit my two sisters and many nieces and nephews and my brother who lives in Lynn Lake Manitoba... will drive down to visit us as well.
I am so very excited to go. One of my sisters is very ill and I really need to hug her. She has cancer and is in remission now but her lungs are damaged and she is on oxygen everywhere she goes. Her husband is sick as well with Parkinsons. I need to get there and help them out.
Hopefully Oscar will not be too aggressive but he is in heat. He did his "thing" on his play stand this morning... geezzz... poor little guy.
Anyway... talk to you in a few weeks. Take care one and all.

Ah, bird people. Tell us what you'll be doing only after telling us how it affects Oscar. I'm sorry to read of your family circumstances and hope it will be a good trip for everyone.

Hope your trip goes OK and that you look after yourself a little bit, too and don't overdo things. We'll all be waiting for you when it suits. I'm sure Oscar will be fine, as he always bounces back quickly.

I am back from the trip and had a wonderful time. Yes a few tears but a lot of laughter as well. Met so many great nieces and nephews and had a great time with them singing and playing the guitar and tambourine and drums.... everybody had an instrument. Was great jamming.
At my sick sisters' house the damn sewer line backed up and they tried everything as well as the plumber they hired. Now they have to wait for the city to come and dig the street. So for a few days we were "doing our duty" in plastic bags... ewwwww. Finally we decided to move to my other sisters place and the day we arrive her blinking sewer lines backed up too. They said it was us Ontario people who were making too big doo doos. ha ha ha.... After a day they did manage to get that line working thank goodness.
Picking up Oscar was so exciting as always. He pulled lots of hair out of my face (guess it had grown back lol) and gave me lots of kisses. When he got home the first thing he wants is a bath. I could hardly hold him back cause he was going to jump into the cold water. He always does this ... not sure why.... but he does. He now has me running back and forth to his bathroom condo to visit him... lol. Things are good. He looks very well so I am sure he was taken good care of. Ten more days and I go on holidays again... this time on a Mediterranean Cruise. Can't wait.
Oscar will go back to the sitters... poor little guy... but hey... he has other birds to talk to... so that is good.

OMG, Julianna, have you never heard of "too much information"? Just as well Oscar wasn't there, as he would have pecked holes in all those plastic bags!

Puts me in mind of the eight hour flights to Antarctica on military LC-130's (C-130 on skis). No facilites on board except for a round metal trash can with a plastic liner. It was called the "honey pot". If the crew chief didn't feel like doing it himself, a lucky passenger would be called on to dispose of the bag after landing.

Ha, Easttex, I only went on a C-130 once and puked my guts out. The captain/pilot took pity on me and let me lie down in his little bed above the cockpit (which had a pistol in a holster in the ceiling!). Oh, now I can't remember, it was a Hercules...is that the same plane? :0 My memory for these things is shocking, but I guess it was quite some time ago.

They are the same. As far as cargo planes go, I thought the LC-130 was very pleasant, as long as there weren't many passengers. Horribly loud, but you could get up from the web seating and wander around or find a comfy spot on top of a pallet of something or other. And the landings were so smooth. Of course none of that would matter to someone with motion sickness.
