I have a little foster kitten who I named Mia. She would be about 16 weeks now and have had her since she was 5 weeks. It took her absolute ages to settle in which was only about 3 weeks ago. As she was surrendered to the pound at 3 weeks of age, the vet said that kittens that young have bonding issues and can remain aloof their whole life. She doesn't purr that much but she hangs around me if I am in the house. If I sit down, she is on my lap. She has been going through that crazy kitten phase for a while and the dog hates it. I worry about finding her a forever home as she is not a cuddly kitty (but she is very cute). I have decided to adopt her - the dog wont be happy. She has become such a part of the household and I love her dearly. The vet said it wasn't a foster care fail - it is an adoption success.

Hey, congratulations! It does sound like the best outcome for all parties. Don't worry, the dog will get used to it.

Kind heart! I faced the same issues with the mom and baby ferals I took in. The baby didn't have much trouble warming up to me, but the mom is still skittish after seven years. She long ago figured out she liked to be scratched, but until recently, I could not actually extend my hand without her running off. She also didn't start purring until a couple months ago.
