For all her life with us so far, Tin Tin has been an only parrot. I have a dog, Simcoe, who desperately wants to be friends with her but Tin Tin has made it VERY clear that it is not happening. Simcoe will be sleeping and Tin Tin will fly on to the floor. Now, I think we all know that any flighted bird on the floor has either seen something shiny or is definitely up to no good. Tin Tin will pretend she is not up to anything, wander this way, wander that way, then all of a sudden rush up to the dog and tries to pull one of her whiskers out. Always a whisker, never a hair. She will then fly away on to the back of a chair, while the dog wakes up and runs to the chair to see what she did wrong this time.
However, Tin Tin doesn't always antagonize the dog... sometimes she will throw food on the ground just to watch Simcoe scramble up to go eat it, while laughing to herself in a cartoon villain laugh "he he he he he." Tin Tin certainly knows how to make her own fun.

They are all such rascals (quakers, that is). It must be genetic. Bonnie is like this, but we don't have dogs anymore. I imagine if we did, she'd do the same!

They are definitely very sneaky. Cupcake is frequently waiting for us to stop paying attention or to leave the area so she can try to sneak into places we don't let her go. It is a constant battle! We don't let her on the floor at all.. Too many opportunities for sneaking around and danger She still tries to go there sometimes though. Gotta love that mischevous little Quaker laugh!

Gotta love that mischevous little Quaker laugh! Ah, so Cupcake does the laugh too? Bonnie was sitting on my shoulder while we were driving to Darwin and kept saying "Good Girl Bonnie", followed by that mischievous laugh! It can sometimes sound evil and sometimes comical, or even both at once!

Haha oh yeah, she laughs all the time. Mostly joins in when we are laughing, or if something happens that she finds particularly funny... but also when she is nervous, which is adorable. Especially when there are people that she feels uncomfortable with that are in the house, she will laugh a lot, unprompted. Strangely she doesn't do it when she's being mischievous... maybe doesn't want to give herself away

Ha! Maya laughs like that too! We let Maya wander about on the living room floor as it mirrors natural behaviour in the wild. But we have strict rules about it. If one of us wants to get up, we call 'Maya!' and she gives us a little squeak to tell us where she is. When we can see where she is, only then do we get up. Quakers often feed on the ground, so it's important to me that Maya exhibits natural behaviour. We don't have any dogs though...if we did, it would definitely be different! Bless Tin Tin and her silliness. They are all mad!

I allow Oscar on the floor however, there is always a constant eye of him. He has ladders that he can crawl up and down and I had originally put them there in case he got frightened and landed on the floor (if we weren't around) ... at least he could get back up to his cage.
He loves to go down and get the food he has dropped that day. When I am cooking I will give him pieces of cucumber or carrot... and usually he will drop everything. Then I start ignoring him and continue cooking... that is when I can hear his little nails climbing down the ladder to get the food he was given. I guess he figures there is nothing better.. so I may as well eat this... lol.
If there is something on the counter that he sees and I did not offer it to him... he will walk over to me... peck at my toes... so I lift him up and he will show me what he wants... too flippin cute some times.

Bonnie patters about on the floor quite happily, although I admit I'm worried about moving my foot and crushing her before realising she's there...OMG! I just have to make sure I'm paying attention when she's on the floor. Now, that laugh - I heard it two nights ago after she swooped down and swiped a bit of beef straight from the frypan when I was cooking beef with black bean sauce. Then she flew up to the top of the cupboard where I couldn't reach her. Then the laugh. Hmmm, it's a conspiracy!

I would love to allow Cupcake on the floor, but it's just too dangerous in this apartment. Too much going on in way too small of a space. I know she'd like to run around down there, but she'll have to deal with getting along by flight She tries to go down there every once in a while, but the vast majority of the time she doesn't bother because she knows she'll get scooped. I accidentally stepped on my parents' Cockatiel when I was 11 or so... he was rooting around under the table and I didn't know he was there. Luckily I only stepped on the base of his tail, and while he did clearly make a very pained noise, he managed to get away with no major injuries, but all of his tail feathers fell out at once. I'm sure this contributes to my drive to ensure Cupcake stays off the floor
