I came across this video clip, which is taken from a webinar by, yes, my favorite trainer, Barbara Heidenreich . She briefly discusses how to extinguish screaming and how to reinforce talking when your parrot seems to do it only when you're not in the room. I thought it might be useful to some of you. If you're completely new to training, be careful how you interpret the term "negative punishment". It just means that rather than reinforcing by giving your parrot something he wants, you're momentarily taking something away.

I got Ollie to stop screaming by asking him "Are you a baby dinosaur?!?" In the afternoon then telling him to roar and roaring at him, I think it gets out the energy that makes him scream when I'm not in the room. Our neigbors keep honking their horn to tell their friend inside it's time to go out as to knocking on their door so he's mimicking that lately😅
