I just woke up because I slept in, I wish I was up sooner, it seems Ollie's bump is bleeding again so I have to take him to the vet who's out of the city, I have enough for an apt but not for the right there so I'm waiting for my mom but she says she can't come home for another few hours. I don't think emergency vets can do anything except maybe stop the bleeding but I might need to pay upfront and I only have $60 for the apt at my other vet not transfusions.

I know you're probably upset right now, but if it is continuing to bleed, you'll need to take a deep breathe and get ahold of him somehow without chasing him around and making the bleeding worse. You can use flour or cornstarch to stop the bleeding. Just press some gently on the wound, and keep repeating until the bleeding stops. I don't recall where his bump was, but be especially careful with the pressure if is in the chest/abdomen area. Birds must be able to move their chests in order to breathe. Good luck!

It stopped bleeding before I came into the room I just found out now since there's no fresh blood but I did dust corn starch, I'm worried about towelling since it's right on his wrists so if he flys it could bleed again. Thank god, my moms still taking convincing for me taking him to the vet when she gets home, sadly even if I pay. I have an electrolyte solution, I'm not sure if it's safe, it's like peadualte but I'm not sure if artificial flavours is ok. I also have salt, baking soda and sugar which I saw on a forum.

You sound well prepared. I'm very glad he's no longer bleeding. I'd like to think if it's safe for babies it would be safe for birds, but I'm just not sure. You could ask your vet over the phone. Or, you can make your own. A little salt, sugar and filtered water, and you're most of the way there. Some citrus fruit juice will give it flavor and add potassium. There are numerous recioes on the web.

If he likes chamomile and you think he needs to calm down, you can try it.

It's been 30 minutes since I gave him the electrolytes and he's really hyper now and talking.

Do you think he was dehydrated?

Maybe, he lost blood so I was worried he needed some electrolytes and water.

I wasn't able to convince my mom to go to the vet, I'll try later today or tomorrow since she she doesn't work on weekends and maybe she might be more willing. The location is also outside of the city and 40 minutes away from our house so that might be why, the vet has pet insurance there for exotics too so I'm going to sign up.

My moms still taking convincing:( I'm hoping it doesn't happen again but you never know, I'm working on getting him used to towels since if you come in the cage with them he flys. I'm play peek abo with one so he gets used to it.

That's a good idea, Hannah (getting him used to towels). It must be hard for you as, being a very young person, you are dependent upon adults for transport and a few other things. You are doing a great job with Ollie and I hope you are able to get to the vet soon for a check.

When I would get Oscar on my lap (when I first got him) I would put my hand under the towel and tickle him with it. He would chase my hand and try to get my fingers. Now... every towel in my house has Oscar holes in them... lol. He no longer minds the towel at all.
Anything that goes into their cage is a threat to them so be careful what goes in and what comes out.
In one of Oscar's cages he has this little white plastic cup which is usually empty. If I try to remove it... he will freak out and come running at me. Guess he just loves HIS little cup...
