How are you? Have you settled in? Are Gary and Ralph being kind to you?

Scooter replies: Hello, Jan, and thank you for asking about me. I'm settling in gradually, and I feel a lot more at home here now. I'm a lot less nervous and I don't get scared any more when Gary drops things on the floor or bumps into furniture (he can be pretty clumsy sometimes ). He gives me lots of good things to eat that I never had in my other home. I still don't understand how Ralph can eat those raw peas though-- they taste funny to me, but he loves them. The cooked ones aren't bad and sometimes I'll eat a few of them. I've learned to take a bath by watching Ralph, but I still don't care much for being misted like Ralph does. These Quaker parrots gave funny ideas about things. Gary calls Ralph a funny Quaker, and I have to agree with that. I'm also learning some new things to say, and I sound just like Gary when I say them. The newest thing I say is "Would you like some toast?" That's one thing I like that Ralph likes too, and Gary always shares some with us when he eats toast. There are lots of things around here that go beep and boop, and I love imitating them. Gary says I sound exactly like the toaster oven and the microwave. This really isn't a bad place to live. Now, if those darned people downstairs would stop slamming their doors... I've heard that the manager here is going to put them out soon, and I hope that's true. Hope you and your birds have a Happy New Year down there in Australia.

Hi Scooter, glad to hear that all is working out well for you. Ralph is a real gentleman so you will learn a lot from him. Don't worry about Gary being clumsy - a lot of humans are like that. I fall up stairs, often trip over and just generally go out of my way to injure myself. Wishing you, Ralph and Gary a very happy New Year.

Hey Scooter, it's Bonnie here. I just want to offer my encouragement - I've recently continued training my human slaves to an entirely new level, so the sky is the limit for you. Happy New Year (soon!).

If parrots were allowed to drink champagne, Ralph and I would be popping the cork on a bottle. The people downstairs were evicted and are gone! No more door slamming and arguing (I refuse to repeat the bad words those nasty humans said). We hope that the next tenants down there will be nice and quiet-- and it wouldn't hurt if they like birds.

That's great news. Fingers crossed that you get good tenants to replace the horrible ones.

Fantastic, Scooter! Obviously you've brought a new level of class to the apartment complex and the silly downstairs humans couldn't keep up.

Allie and I are happy that Scooter is settling in so nicely. Greys just aren't the sort to throw caution to the wind. Allie has only recently calmly allowed me to bring her into the shower. That's after seven years. She still doesn't want to go directly under the water, but she enjoys drinking from the source and gets a little wet that way. Congratulations on losing the neighbors from hell.
