I had to have emergency surgery last week and was released on Sunday from the hospital and have been on bed rest. Of course this didn't agree with Yoshi, who rules the house, until my husband helped me lay out on the couch. Yoshi decided that he would keep me company and make me play with him since I abandoned him for almost a week. He is so funny he started out laying next to my shoulder on the pillow then decided to play in my hair and cover himself with my hair to go to sleep. His training has been put on hold but he seems happy to just cuddle up with me and play in my hair and tell my husband "now, right now" and keep the dog away from me.

I'm sure you'll be feeling better soon, especially with Yoshi watching out for you.

Oh my gosh. Yoshi is probably one of the most therapeutic sights I've ever seen!
(I hope you're recovered soon!)

You are just trying to make me jealous. I have been on bed rest for the last 4 days as I have the flu really bad. Shah has been awful. Screaming and yelling non stop. So I get him out of his cage to let him play and he continues screaming and yelling. He is really mad at me for changing his routine around as it takes me ages to feed and water the birds now as I have to keep sitting down and resting. It is really unpleasant with his constant screaming. I hope you feel better soon and it is nice to see Yoshi caring for you. These are precious moments we share with our quakers.

Just discovered Shah has started mutilating himself. I have caught it early so it is off to the vet for him. Even though I am still unwell, I will have to get him seen to. Here we go again. It is almost 2 years since his last mutilating episode - this will be the third time.

The good news is the vet said Shah is in perfect condition. So he gave him an antibiotic, put ointment on the wound and said we had caught it early. He goes back next week for a check up. He screamed and yelled everytime I stopped at traffic lights on the way there and was quiet as a church mouse on the way home. He has been very quiet since the visit. I hate to say it but the peace is wonderful.

Thanks Dani. He is in good spirits and not obsessed about the neck at this stage. I love him so much - even when he is stressing me out - and know we will get through this episode. After all, he is my baby boy. The vet thinks it is because the cockatiels are nesting as it always happens around the same time of year and with me being sick, I was unable to meet his demands and give him support. Probably explains all the screaming and yelling that has been going on.

Thanks everyone! He has been the best medicine I'm so sorry to hear that Jan. I hope Shah heals fast and you get better soon! Sending healing energy y'alls way! I understand a little on what you are going through. Monday I had to go to a follow up appointment to see how I'm healing. My appointment was in the early morning but Monday we also had one of the worse Monsoon storms we've seen in years. So what would usually have taken me 2 hours to see the doctor and get the prescription filled ended up taking me all day. I was stuck at my doctor's office for several hours waiting out the storm and then made it to my pharmacy which is less than 2 miles from my house and got stuck there for a few hours. By the time I made it home it was almost 6 and I had left at 8 that morning. I could hear Yoshi screaming before I even made it to my door. I got in the house and he was still screaming but was sort of hoarse and apparently he had been slamming around his cage as there were feathers everywhere. I got him out and he went immediately to his play stand, he wouldn't give me kisses or let me pet him, talk about making someone feel like a bad mom *sigh*. So I went and started supper and after I got through making it and my husband got home we sat down to eat and that's when Yoshi decided that he had forgiven me because he wanted food off of my plate. They can be very demanding and if you change their normal routine they will let you know about it.

Hi Yoshismom, I know how stressed you get when you are held up knowing that the quaker at home is probably throwing tantrums cos you are not there. My life seems to revolve around this little green monster - but then, he is very special and he has trained me well. Thanks for your kind thoughts - Shah accepts healing energy from everyone else but me. Hope you are soon up and around. Yoshi seems a like a gorgeous baby. Those photos are just wonderful.
