Jade is very big on flying at (not "to") me in the mornings and while she usually doesn't chomp these days, I have a muscle memory reaction and usually duck my head. Most of the time, she lands on my back or my shoulder while I'm feeding the fish, just long enough to say "good morning" (I say it, not her) and she goes back to her cage. Yesterday, she flew at me a second time, which I wasn't expecting, and somehow she ended up swinging from my hair. That's uncomfortably close to my face, of course, and I thought for sure she was going to chomp my face. I can't pick her up so ... how do I get her untangled and on a perch or at least my shoulder instead of swinging from my hair? To give credit where it's due, she did not chomp, she wasn't even upset. In fact, she thought it was funny and chuckled. So I scooted over close to her perch and tried to position me and my hair to get her close enough to step onto it and somehow, we managed it between us. Then she wanted a Jade Kiss (I touch her beak and make a kissy sound). In her mind, it was an entirely successful interaction. She was quite pleased.

I can just see the commotion. Although I am sure it was a little panic situation, I love that Jade was laughing. Oscar hates my hair and if even steps on it a little... he will do everything to make sure there is none left on his little toes. I use this as a bonus for me. If I don't want Oscar on my shoulder then I just let my hair down. I win!!

Both of mine adore hair. They preen it and pick it up in their feet and play with it. Jade tends to pull, hard, while Clyde just preens it and he's adamant that it must lay over my forehead just so. If I push it back, he makes this disgusted sound and goes to work to put it back the way HE likes it.
