My mom bought green beans and I wanted to know if I could give them to Ollie fresher or if they needed to be cooked?

It's usually recommended that most types of beans be cooked before serving them to parrots, but I believe that some parronts do feed raw green beans to their birds.

I feed raw green beans to Maya if I'm in a hurry, but if I do that, I only feed her the beans once a week. They have some chemicals in them that can be harmful to parrots (or any bird) if they build up, but they also contain some really important nutrition. If you're going to feed beans often, I recommend boiling them for two or three minutes beforehand.

My Nevz will climb over Mt Everest to get at a green bean, raw or cooked. He seems to prefer cooked though.
