I'd love to know if the general noises the wild ones make are the same as the ones our pet quakers ( correction: bosses) make.

Biteybird, I don't know if this link will take you anywhere. I'm a Cornell Lab of Ornithology member and that gives me access to the McCauley library, which is documenting audio and video on just about every bird, as near as I can tell. If it doesn't let you in via this link, you can try going to the Cornell Lab's Birds of North America Online. They might have a free trial, and you can look up Monk Parakeet and click on the Multimedia tab. I think you'll recognize many of the wild Quaker calls. birdsna.org/Species-Account/bna/species/monpar/multimedia/audio

This is a great article. My family and I are constantly talking about going on one of Steve Baldwin's tours. We're going to make it happen one of these days. Not too bad of a drive to get up there from where we are.

Love the article and love the nests. Oscar is definitely one of those who builds and builds and builds.

Oscar was the first one I thought of when I saw the big nest picture.
