I didn't know he knew how to bark just like my little dog until the 30 lb puppy barked at him. He was on my shoulder last night and she wanted to invade our space. First he squawked at her, then did an open mouth lunging action. Finally, he barked. Not just the yippy, happy bark that Abby uses when she's playing. Oh, no. It was the the growlly, you're on my last nerve bark that she uses when Betty is annoyimg her. I guess, Ducky figured if it works for Abby, it would work for him. And it did! Betty decided to go do something else rather quickly. That growl usually means she's about to get bit.
Ducky see, Ducky do! What a smart little guy!

So now the true pecking order's been established. Where do YOU stand in the hierarchy, duckysmom?

That is so cute. Isn't it amazing that they actually learn what works. That would be so funny to hear.

Haha we have Coyotes and just last years Wolves here and while they were howling once Ollie joined in. Ducky's so smart, there's actually a documentary on parrots communicating with other animals and speaking other languages and teaching it to their young. It's just so cool how they learn how to tell us things.

A barking QP sounds almost frightening. Hopefully Abby will learn to back away from Ducky when he barks.

We don't have dogs anymore (we got Bonnie after our old dogs died), but I'm sure Bonnie would be able to mimic a dog bark perfectly if she was motivated enough.

Haha! Hilarious! Always interesting to hear about quaker-dog dynamics, as I think a dog is in our future... Hopefully not for a couple more years, but I don't think I'm going to get out of getting one for my stepdaughter. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs and would be excited about having one on many levels, but we live in an apartment and it's already a mess thanks to little miss flighted Cupcake all the time... I can only imagine what it will look like with a dog in the mix.
