Poor Oscar... I feel so bad for him. This morning we went fishing and Oscar (as always stayed home on top of his cages).
When I got home about 4 hours later... Oscar was sitting on the window ledge on top of some rocks I collect. He hates those rocks but there he was sitting on them. I could tell he had been there for some time as there was 12 drops of poop around.
Something obviously scared him and he jumped off his cage and landed on the window ledge. Thank goodness he didn't crash into the window but because I take him there all the time and we knock on the window... he knows it is not an open space.
I just feel bad that he was scared and I wasn't here to comfort him. When I picked him up he was not hurt at all.... just hungry.
Although Oscar can fly (right now) he does not know it. He could have easily jumped to the floor which is less than a foot away and walked over to his cage and up his ladder. But I think because he was in that "terrified" position of sitting on a rock that he hates.... he just stayed right there and wouldn't move...
I know... bad Mommy. I do love the little guy soooooo much... I would have been really sad if anything would have happened. Whewwww.

Poor little guy. I'd keep a close eye on him for a while. If he really panicked, he could easily forget about the glass. You will normally see some residue on the window if they strike it hard.

Poor guy. I agree, a good idea to keep an eye on him just to be safe. I hate having to watch them be so scared when things like this happens. It's so sad!

I found out what scared him. A bird had crashed into the living room from outside and unfortunately it died. I am sure just the noise made Oscar jump and after that he really does not know how to fly right or left.
He is really good today. No marks or sore spots. We played a lot today so I managed to touch him everywhere and there was no sign of pain... except of course where his little pin feathers are.
All is well once again... yeahhhhh.

I'm glad Oscar recovered. I had a cardinal crash into one of my windows yesterday. I really hate that. I've tried just about everything to make them "see" the glass, but I still have occasional casualties. As if habitat loss and cats don't take enough of a toll on wild birds.

I am glad Oscar is OK. My QP, Chuckie, started frequently falling off his perch as if he was startled. Once I found out he has a cataract, it made sense: he was seeing a shadow and being frightened by it. Since then I announce my presence and he hasn't been startled. I also want to make a suggestion about birds crashing into your windows. My neighbor had many such incidents until he hung scratched CDs on fishing line from the rafters in front of his picture windows. The seem to repel birds and he hasn't had issues since. Other people had bought translucent bird shaped decals to put on inside of windows. Heard those work as well by giving a visual cue.
