Pippin and Spike moved into their new, much larger cage this afternoon. I had to put it together (it came as a flat pack) and then took me a week to "decorate" it. The first thing Pippin did was to sit on his swing (the other cage was too small to put it in). They now have room to get away from each other and a couple more feeding stations. I can tell that Pippin is very happy as he has settled right in. Spike seems to be settled now and is sharing the swing with Pips. I have changed the room around a bit and it looks really nice and comfy now.

Sounds good! You're in your new house now, right? Hope everything's working out well.

It's slow going Biteybird and because I am on the other side of the Ranges, it is extremely cold. One day is beautiful, the next is rainy, windy and cold - not really used to this type of weather. I am still getting the house in order. The unpacking has been a nightmare as I have a storage shed here as well and have been storing things for many years. Needless to say, my taste has changed over the years and the local charity shop is doing really well with my rejects. I guess my biggest beef is that whenever I buy anything (including the mower) it all comes in a flatpack and then I have to figure out how to put it together - not one of my favourite things to do. But the laundry and birds' room are now completed and am happy with them. It's just the rest of the house that needs to be finished off. Plus have had major problems with plumbing and lighting - oh the joys of owning one's own house

I've had that experience of unpacking things that have been stored for years. On one hand it's kind of like Christmas, but you also wonder sometimes "What was I thinking?".

One day is beautiful, the next is rainy, windy and cold - not really used to this type of weather. ...oh, kind of like Melbourne, then. I'm sick of the 'four seasons in a day' thing here. I actually applied for a job in Darwin and had a phone interview over 2 weeks ago, but haven't heard anything further yet. Fingers crossed. At least with the flatpack things you'll be very 'handy', Jan, think of all the new skills you will learn! You could work for Ikea.

Biteybird, you are going from one extreme to the other. The only thing I didn't like about Darwin weather was the humidity. Where I am living now does not have the humidity problem in summer(thank goodness) as I found Sydney was getting unbearable (maybe it's just old age . However, I really liked Darwin so I hope you hear good news soon. Wonder how Bonnie will like it.

I'm so glad you're getting your house in order!! I really dislike unpacking after a move, but it feels wonderful once it's finished! Decorating is so much fun, too. :-)
I'm happy that the cockatiels are settled in! :-)
