Hello everyone! This seems like a fantastic place for quaker lovers! Allow me to introduce my quaker before I introduce myself: Buddy is a 2 year old quaker. I adopted him from a local breeder when he was just weaned and have had him ever since. I have put in all the time and energy I possibly could to train buddy. He is extremely intelligent and has a sassy personality (like most quakers ). Here are some pics of buddy: And now for my introduction: Im a mechanical engineer major, own a lounge in Mississauga, ON and I train/tame/rehabilitate birds on the side as a volunteer service All the birds I train and rehabilitate are then placed in good homes. I'm very excited to be a part of this forum and would love to provide an input. Im also very excited to learn from everyone elses experiences. Cheers my fellow Quakeranians #Quakers4LYFE

Happy to have you and Buddy join us here! As a hockey fan, I'm familiar with Mississauga. I'm sure with all your experience at training and rehabilitating birds, you'll have a lot to contribute to the Forum.

Buddy is adorable! Who is that on your arm? Thanks! That's Pheonix on my arm. He was an 8 year old B&G Macaw that I rehabilitated about 8 months ago. He came in with general aggression towards humans and had a plucking problem. Through my experience working with him, I learned that his aggression was due to lack of socialization and his plucking had a lot to do with stress, and a mitigating factor - once again, lack of socialization and play time. He was not getting the mental stimulation that he required. So that picture is from the last day, when his rehabilitation was complete #Quakers4LYFE

Sounds like a good way to get to know a lot of different species, but I would find the letting go part hard. Do you do that for an organization or on your own? With so many getting branded as "problem birds" that are really people problems (at least that's true in the U.S.), I imagine there's plenty of work for you. That's practically all some of them need - time with someone who tries to understand them. Kudos to you!
