My old (practically ancient, 5 year old) betta died about a month ago. We were sad, but had been waiting for him to die...he was OLD! 
Zach had been wanting to set up a new tank, because the one our old betta was in was not nearly big enough...it was overcrowded with plants. It was 2.5 gallons.
The new tank is 5 gallons, and has a wider floor. It's REALLY nice.
