Jade is getting more and more bold. She's been flying at me (not "to" me, LOL) every day for a while, and this morning when she landed on my shoulder, instead of just chomping me and flying back to her cage, as she usually does, she sat on my shoulder for a couple of minutes (chomping me, LOL). She said "whee hee!" in my ear and preened my hair, too. I long since gave up that she'd ever be a shoulder bird or sit on my hand or let me pet her, and decided to be okay with that if that's the way she wanted it, and now all this progress in such a short time makes me think maybe those other things are possible eventually. She's always been so touch-me-not all these years, and way too fond of chomping if you forget the rules, but now she's changing the rules. Again.

Jade does like to keep you guessing.  Nice that she sat on your shoulder for a while, even though you had to endure some chomps. |

Ohhhh yes... they have a lot of rules. If Oscar is on my right shoulder I cannot carry anything in my right hand... and same if he is on my left shoulder. His rules.
Another good one... when he taps me twice...that means we have to go somewhere... and yes... he will show me by leaning that way. If I don't go... then the taps get harder and harder.... and that screaming starts.
One more good one... he says I cannot touch his little white dish in his play cage. Absolutely not... if I do... he will come running and really try to bite me. I think he is in love with the little dish... lol.
I am happy to hear that Jade is landing... even if it is for a quicky... lol... she in landing.

Only Benjy is allowed to sit on me while Clyde is also sitting on me. Anyone else gets chased away and I get chomped. If Clyde is on my shoulder, I am not allowed to do anything at all with that hand. I am not allowed to wear a watch. I am not allowed to take a drink out of my glass. Or speak to the other birds (except Benjy). I can sit in front of the fish tanks but not speak to the fish. It's so much to remember!

Ducky is still working out his rules and sometimes they change with the wind, but here are his most consistant: if he's on BF, I cannot kiss, touch or even just accidently brush by BF or I get scolded harshly. If he is on BF, BF can sit and read a magazine or watch TV and pretty much anything else. But if he is on me, I cannot sit down, must keep moving and talking to him, unless I am at the computer and he can watch me very intently and give advice on what I'm doing. Also, if he's with me, and we are in the bedroom, the playstand can only be positioned near the dresser so he can go argue with the bird in the mirror every few minutes or so, then go back to the playstand for a while. I positioned it too far away once and you would have thought the world was ending. Funny thing, he never bites me, but he bites BF at least once a day.
So glad there is progress. Hope it continues for you and gets less painful.
