Hey folks!
I just got my first Quaker parrot a few weeks ago. He's a young little guy who is about 6 months old. He's a more blue than the usual green. He's an absolute gem! He's never bitten me and just loves to settle into my hand like it's a nest. Huevos seemed like a good name as he just seems to want to be a little egg. He's not talking yet but he makes a lot of happy little monkey noises. What fantastic birds these guys are :-D -Tom

G'day Tom and Huevos! Welcome to the Forum. Yes, these little guys are great. You may come across some different behaviours as Huevos grows up, but it sounds like you and he are getting along excellently. Feel free to start new threads under the different sections here, or just ask any questions you have as you and your buddy get to know one another.

Thanks Bitey! Yeah I've been a bit warned that behaviours caan go a bit funny here and there. I'm pretty prepared. We're good and bonded but he's still very friendly with other people which I'm very happy about. My aim right now is to keep him socialised with others so he will hopefully remain friendly to everyone.

Welcome Tom and Huevos! These little birds are definitely wonderful little companions. It sounds like you've been made aware of their behavioral changes as they get older, so that's good. The more you can learn about the nature of their hormonal changes, how it affects their behavior, and how you should respond to it, the better. So it sounds like you're on the right track! Generally speaking the behaviors aren't that bad if you respond to them appropriately when they start... the worst stuff seems to come in cases where people unintentionally encourage the wrong behaviors. Good socialization is also really helpful as time goes on, so that's great.
Anyhow, welcome aboard! Feel free to ask any questions you might have.

It's a wonderful surprise how closely you can bond with these little guys, isn't it? By the time the more challenging behavior arrives, you're thoroughly besotted. At least that's how it worked me. Love be your hat.

Welcome Tom and Huevos. Sorry it has taken me so long to say welcome but I have been away a little. Happy to be back home with my little Oscar. He was at the sitters for 6 days and was very happy when I came back. I never got a nasty bite for leaving or anything like that. He did give me a few nice warnings ... when I went outside to feed the Ravens that hang out in my yard. lol... I guess Oscar figured the bread was for him and only him.
Welcome aboard and I am sure you are going to enjoy being part of this forum. We are all here to help any way we can.

I meant to welcome you earlier, but kept getting interrupted. Welcome! My baby is 3 months old and we love him insanely. Be prepared to give over you heart unconditionally! And the experienced folks in this forum are absolutely wonderful people! I was hesitant to ask questions at first, not wanting to bother anyone, but everyone has different experiences as the birds are such individuals, and they are all so willing to offer help and suggestions and resources for any questions or issues that come up.
