Wow he has been getting up to all sorts lately First of all he was on my daughter and she showed him a utube clip on her phone of a quaker talking. First of all he was mesmerized and stared at the screen and then after a minute or two went crazy and tried to attack the quaker on the screen and my daughters hand when she took the phone away. Today Coco decided he wanted to mate with my arm.... . Yesterday Coco actually scared my demon cat out the room by shouting at her. If the cat sits too close to his cage he sneaks up on her and tries to bite her tail. When the dogs are near me on the couch he makes a bee line towards them and wants to climb on them. I think it is quite safe to say that Coco is now the king of the household.

I can just see Coco attacking the other Quaker on the phone. My Oscar attacks his imagine in the mirror also... He is not fond of me showing him other Quakers on the computer but I don't let him close enough to attack the screen... but it sure is funny to watch them re-act.
I must say that I am worried that Coco can get that close to your cat. All you cat needs to do is turn around and take one swipe (and it is in their nature) and Coco will be seriously injured. It is the same with the dogs. I just have heard too many sad stories that ... they were playing... then someone is injured or even killed. I just care too much so I must say these things. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings as I really don't mean to. Please please be very careful. From a worried friend.

Coco sounds like quite the little character. I would echo Julianna's concern regarding your kitty. I cringe every time I see a video of birds and cats together. It takes no time at all for things to turn to tragedy. Cat bites can be fatal to birds just from the bacteria in their mouths. I wouldn't let them mix. Even if Coco is in his cage when he tries to bite the tail, they're too close to each other for my comfort.

Hi Julianna and Easttex, absolutely no offence taken and thank you for your concern. I would like to just say that the bars on the cage are close enough together that the cat can't get her mouth on it or in it and it would be very difficult for her to get her claws in and she is scared of Coco. I don't allow the dogs to play with Coco either but he is allowed out when they are around and obviously me too. One of my dogs is a british bulldog and they are known for being so docile and couch potatoes. My other dog is old. I hope this has given you a bit of reassurance that I am being careful. It is nice that you are so caring and thoughtful and I do appreciate it.

Ummm, I hate to wade in but my 9 year old Pomeranian, Emma, was allowed in the room when I let Shah out the other night. I had been letting Emma stay for about 5 nights beforehand and nothing happened. On this particular night, Shah flew across to the door, landed on the ground and then ran back to me (as he does every night). On this occasion Emma went to snap at him - fortunately I was close enough to grab him and yell at her. If I was any further away, goodness knows what would have happened. I cant tell people how to treat their animals but I can remind them that you have a predator animal and a prey animal and no matter how well we think we know our animals, it only takes a split second for disaster to happen. Needless to say, Emma is no longer allowed in the room when Shah is out.

I hope you didn't take offence as it wasn't meant. I just wanted you to know the risks so you can make an informed decision.

then after a minute or two went crazy and tried to attack the quaker on the screen and my daughters hand when she took the phone away. Bonnie does this too! Crazy little hussy. She hates it when my hubby is sitting on the couch using the iPad and tries to attack his hand/arm. Sometimes when I am on a phone call she lands on my shoulder and tries to peck at the phone or my hand - accompanied by loud screeches (usually the person on the other end cannot hear a word I'm saying and I have to repeat myself).

Ducky does the same thing when I show him quarkers on my phone. He even attacked a video of himself that I took of him and then played for him. But I think he's getting wise because now he looks behind the phone to see if the offending bird is there. Makes me laugh so hard. He looks at the screen, then behind the phone, then at the screen. Then he looks at me like What's the deal?
My little dog is always out with Ducky, but I am always right there. She's mostly afraid of him. If he flies (glides) off, she ducks and runs the opposite direction. But she doesn't mind sleeping next to me while he is on me. She just hates that he pulls her hair if he gets close enough to preen her. And she never bothers him when he's out climbing around on his cage.
I had to take Abby to a professional trainer when I first adopted her because she was afraid of everything - except my grandson who was 7 months at the time. She is still a nuerotic little thing. Afraid of everything! Still, I would never leave her alone in the room with Ducky. Accidents can happen. I just don't expect that she will ever not run away from him.

I must say that my Oscar is also very afraid of everything. I wanted to call him "chicken" but too late... his name is Oscar. Because he is so afraid, I must introduce him to new things very slowly. Especially a new toy or something I want him to have. I will put it on the coffee table so that he can see it. He will walk by it for a few days then finally touch it.
That is when I find out if he will accept it or not. He is also afraid of trees, the wind, the rain, toilet paper rolls lol.... etc etc.
If can be funny at times... but I feel bad for the little guy... being such a chicken.
