Shah's poos have been a bit off for the last 4 days. He has been vibrating - not shivering - but vibrating. So took him to the vet this morning and found out that the time he flew away, he must have eaten something like bark. It was in his gizzard but has now moved and is causing problems. I think it moved because he has been flying around recently. They flushed him twice and, hopefully, it has moved. Unfortunately, I had to drop him off at the vet and come back later as I had an appointment a few miles away. They said he had been very good and when he saw me he said "hello". I am so pleased I decided to take him to the vet and not wait a few more days when his condition may have deteriorated. I just love that little guy so much and cant imagine my life without him.

I had to go to a meeting today and left as soon as I could to get home to Shah. I am very pleased to report that the vibrating has stopped and his poos are almost back to normal which means he has passed the blockage. I cant tell you how relieved I am. I had let his feathers grow out and he would do a circuit of the rumpus room and fly back to me in the TV room. However, he started flying further into the house where the risk is that my housemate has left a door or window open so I had to clip his wings. This has not deterred him from flying - he seems obsessed with it so I have made a game out of it and he flies to the door, lands on the ground and runs back to me. He loves it. However, I think his flying may have been the cause of the fragment dislodging from the gizzard (which isn't a bad thing). Thank you everyone for your good wishes. It just reinforces that we are the ones that can see even minor changes in our birds - I am so pleased I took Shah to the vet - heavens knows what would have happened if I had delayed in doing this. We have spent the evening snuggling together (which isn't like him). I really love this little monkey breath

Awwwww.... so happy to hear things are better. You are the bestestest Mom Jan... and Shah knows it. It is amazing that this bark thing would be lodged for so long. Good thing you pay special attention to Shah... Hugs to you both.

Just rang the vet for the results of tests done on Shah on Saturday. All good so it was only the blockage that was the problem. I can now breathe again. We move house in 5 weeks' time and he will be spending a lot more time out of cage (with me) so am really looking forward to it.

Wow, that's a relief! I was wondering when your move was due. I bet you are looking forward to the end of the upheaval. Just think, in 5 weeks you and Shah won't have to share with anyone or worry about people leaving doors open! Shah is lucky he has such an observant and diligent mum.
