As one who has gone through that "what should I do with this" routine, I sympathize. It's overwhelming at first. If things get really bad, there are people here who will try to talk you down off the ledge.

Hellon Angela, I've only just seen this so sorry for the lateness, I'm really sorry to hear about your mum. I hope you will have time soon to sit down with your family and your birds and grieve properly. We are all thinking of you. xxx

Hi Angela, I have been through what you are going through. All I can say is that you have to switch off. You just go and do what has to be done. Clothes to Vinnies, furniture to any of the charity groups, food thrown out, etc. It would be great if you could take someone with you to help sort through things. Get a real estate agent in to help you sell/rent the unit - try at least 3 before making a decision. You will need to sort through the mail and notify whoever needs to be notified of your mother's passing. It will be very tough for you so please allow yourself plenty of crying time and feeling like crap time. We are all here to support you so keep in contact with us.
