So we were going for a little drive this afternoon and Normy sneezed and a tiny bit of clear liquid came out of his nose I think and landed on me!!
He is looking really healthy, his little nostrils look normal, he's eating really well and drinking... he also only sneezed once!
Do your birdies ever sneeze?
Thanks : )

I haven't seen or heard Bonnie sneeze so far, but others will let you know if this is cause for concern. If it isn't, Norman is great at liquid projectiles. Today Bonnie was in her cage for a 2-hour drive in the car and somehow managed to land a poop outside the cage on the centre console in between the front seats.

I know! Normy is king of doing that, after a car trip its always kind of fascinating where I find his poop! Obviously his talents are firing bodily fluids either at me or around the place! Yay!

It's not unusual for parrots to sneeze now and then, for the same reasons we humans sneeze. Both Ralph and Scooter sneeze occasionally. If it develops into frequent sneezing or there's a discharge from the nares, then a vet visit is called for.

Maya has been to the vet for sneezing in the past and we've found nothing wrong. She sometimes pushes air through her nares to clear them of dust just after she preens. Every so often, there will be discharge, but it's very rare now that she's off the medicine. Keep an eye on it, the likelihood is that he's fine, but if it becomes a frequent occurrence or you notice other signs of illness, like regular inconsistencies in faeces, changes in eating or drinking habits or increased sleepiness, take Normy to the vet. My vet said infrequent sneezing should not be a problem. Humans sneeze occasionally too, I sneeze every few days, and so, if a parrot sneezes that amount, that's not cause for concern. As cnyguy says, frequent sneezing would be cause for concern. Otherwise, monitor

I agree totally with beccilouise. Oscar and I are exactly the same. He has sneezed and got some of his boogers on me... ewwwww... but it is not very often.

Thanks everyone for your help. Unfortunately where I live there isn't an avian vet anywhere nearby so it great to get all your opinions!

Our place can be fairly dusty, so Cupcake does dry sneeze fairly often... She also often picks her naries with her toe and makes herself sneeze. Sometimes she will have wet sneezes but the liquid is totally clear. We've been to the vet for it, and similar to Maya, it turns out to be nothing. She's been doing this for years and has ultimately been fine.

I bought two air purifiers for our house to help clear the dust and ventilate the flat. This is mainly because we also live with a rabbit and I wanted to get rid of fur and things. I have one big, plug-in air purifier with a filter that we put on every day, and I have a little, battery-powered ioniser that goes on for four hours in the pet room after 'lights out' to help clear things. I also try to leave the window open a tiny bit to make sure the room remains ventilated. This has massively helped with Maya's sneezing.
Holly, I know you're miles from an avian vet, I totally understand! Loads of us are in the same position, me included! I would totally recommend registering Normy with one though, even if it's four or five hours away, just in case anything REALLY serious occurs! I'm sure Normy is fine, but one of the things I've found really helpful is that I have been able to email my vet with any worries and he has been able to reassure me. It might help.

Mine sneeze after a bath sometimes or if they've been preening a lot. Nothing to worry about as long as it's just now and then.
