I bought a new vacuum cleaner almost a week ago. It's a dyson stick one, well every time I bring it out the carry on from Jasper is terrible. Anyone would think I was killing him. I knew he wouldn't be fond of it but he's really over the top.
Clings to the side to his cage doing his warning call interspersed with calling it "Willie" (one of the cats names). I won't bring it out when he's loose as he would fly. (He's fully flighted but only flies when frightened) Trying to use it everyday in the hope he becomes used to it. Such a drama queen.

Welcome to the club. Bonnie hates ALL vacuum cleaners and is disgusted when we use our Dyson stick vacuum. I remember that many Forum members are slaves to vacuum-hating quakers, so you're not alone! It does seem to bring their dramatic skills to the fore.

Shah never worried about the old vacuum cleaner until I got a Dyson stick vacuum cleaner. He hates it and goes hysterical whenever he sees it. Wonder what it is about the stick cleaners that freaks them out?

I'm not sure what would cause a parrot to hate a stick vacuum, except that they do have a sort of evil look about them. I have a canister vacuum, and both Ralph and Scooter seem to be amused by it. They both do lots of vocalizing (squeaks, squawks and beeps mostly) when I'm running it, and Ralph loves to watch the retractable cord snap back into its compartment.

Oscar is the same... he hates my Dyson but I love it. He will scream murder until I am finished and after a year he still reacts the same way. I think mostly it is the long handle that frightens him. He is afraid of anything that resembles a stick .... even trees. When I dust the furniture he hates the duster... hates the broom... hates the mop... all things stick shaped. Weird for sure.

Cupcake hates the vacuum, for sure... but she's gotten used to it over the years. She used to scream at it and fly all over the place, but now she just grumbles a lot and acts agitated. She definitely doesn't like it, but she can contain herself

Yoshi was scared of the vacuum the first couple times, but he got used to it really quickly and doesn't mind it at all now. I even have to roll his cage around to vacuum around and behind it, and with him perched on top of the cage he doesn't mind it being rolled around at all.
