What a coincidence - I just cooked Tunisian chickpea stew for dinner. If it is an occasional treat and you use the canned, rinse them as well as you can to remove the salt. If it's going to be a diet staple or frequent treat, those you cook yourself are best. He might also like them roasted. I know I do.

Little Oscar loves two chicpeas whenever he can get them and he wants the outter skin removed please... lol That outer skin must go-- Ralph enjoys chickpeas (a.k.a. garbanzo beans), but won't touch them if the skin is still on. Scooter the CAG likes them too and will peel them herself if I leave the skin on them.

Maya adores chickpeas! I get them dried, rinse them and soak them. If I'm feeding them to her cooked, I'll boil them for between 30 and 40 minutes, then rinse in cold water. If not, I'll sprout them along with mung beans, adzuki beans and green lentils. Maya really loves the sprouts! Maya's not a massive fan of the outer skin either, just like Ralph and Oscar, but she is very happy to remove it herself! I normally sprout them for her, and she has two or three in her food bowl, along with sprouted adzuki, mung and lentils and her mixed veggies. What a breakfast!

Cupcake will eat chickpea sprouts, but the ones from the store get so slimy... I know they can be washed but for some reason I just can't bring myself to feed them to her. Maybe if I sprouted my own it would be better.
