Most mornings, Jade flies over and lands on my shoulder or Benjy's cage to say good morning as I'm opening Benjy's cage for the day. This morning I started to open Benjy's cage and my shoulder itched and I reached up to scratch it just as she landed so she landed on my hand, gave my finger a mighty chomp and then moved to the top of Benjy's cage for the morning ritual of head bobbing and beak stroking (she bobs, I stroke). I choose to consider this a step-up of sorts, because you have to change all the rules and expectations when dealing with Jade. LOL

ha ha ha... that will teach you for putting your fingers where they don't belong. Even Jade knows... hey...no fingers allowed here. This is my shoulder.

At least she didn't chomp my ear. That REALLY hurts.

Oh dear! What a combination! Hope your finger's not too battered, and YES, at least it wasn't your ear!

She seldom chomps hard enough to break the skin anymore. She used to. I used to look like I'd gone a few rounds with a chainsaw just trying to clean her cage. Now it's more of a pressure bite and as long as I don't panic and yank back, she doesn't try to do serious damage.

How's Clyde going?

He is Chief Bird in Charge as always. He and Benjy sit on me any time I'm in reach and I'm so used to Clyde's ability to cling no matter what I'm doing -- cleaning fish tanks, folding laundry, mopping, cleaning cages -- that I forget that Rocky doesn't have that same ability. When Rocky's on my shoulder, I have to move slow and not bend or lean or he loses his balance. Clyde can scramble from shoulder to head to belt and all points in between and hang on. LOL He's even been known to grab the hem of my shirt and swing if necessary. So all the time I spend in their room is accompanied by Clyde and usually Benjy, too, and sometimes one or more of the others, but always, always Clyde. There's a reason one of his nicknames is Velcro Birdy. He recently got over spring fever, and we're all relieved about that. I wish Rocky could be in their room, too. I think he would learn to enjoy other birds' company. But the pecking order is worked out in there and everyone knows his (or her) place in it, and introducing a giant demanding 'too to the mix would be disastrous.

Or Cockleburr. I call him that, too.
