Two days ago Izzie and her BFF, Possum, were moved into one of the herd paddocks which includes 1 other pony, Millie (who is Possum's mom) and 6 horses. Naztazzia is the leader of the herd. Izzie has taken over and is now boss of the paddock. It is funny watching the horses defer to her. I am hoping that Naztazzia reasserts her position as Izzie really needs to learn some equine manners.

Wow, that's exciting! Really Jan, Izzie and manners together? I think not...

Being short didn't stop Napoleon, either. But hopefully Naztazzia was just a little too shocked to assert herself initially.

Naztazzia was walking around with her ears flat back on her head. Not a good sign. Plus Izzie is stealing everyone's food - she is already a fat little pony and I worry about laminitis with her. The caretaker said she might feed Izzie and Possum (who does suffer from laminitis) separately. You wouldn't believe the pile of food that Iz had accumulated yesterday. Any horse that came near it got screamed at (almost like a donkey) and then she would back up and start kicking. Little minx. So I walked right over to her and removed a large part of the feed and gave it to other, more deserving, members of the herd.

LOL I'm picturing her expression as the REAL alpha mare stole her hard-earned hay stash! :-)

The real alpha female, Naztazzia, has taken back her throne. Izzie is fine and is now just part of the herd. There wasn't a mark on her so it must have been a peaceful abdication
