Geepers. Oscar was at the babysitters for 6 days and he came home yesterday. Well he has not stopped screetching... since he arrived. The first few hours were okay because he was getting re-adjusted to his surroundings. He wanted a bath... and wanted to go into his condo... etc. etc.
For the remainder of the day it was non-stop calling.... and today... all day... non-stop... and it is driving me insane. Three times I put him in his cage and closed the doors. This did work for a little time... however, I hate locking him up. The only time he is quiet is if he is on me ... whether I am laying down or sitting at the computer. I swear he is going to get a spanking soon... lol
I wish I had some more of that camiline tea (not sure how to spell that).
Anyway... just blowing off steam here... I can't wait for bedtime. (smiles)

You may have to give him some extra attention. He is obviously worried that you may leave again as it sounds like he has a bit of separation anxiety. When Shah does that non stop screaming, I go to him, spend some time with him and then he settles down again - I know most on this forum say I am doing the wrong thing but it does work for Shah and I. Just give Oscar a couple of days to settle back into routine and feel secure. You had better not take another holiday

Shame on you, Julianna! How dare you spend any time away from Oscar (AKA your 'one and only'). Cripes, no wonder the poor little bugger is frantic! 6 days at the birdsitters deserves SERIOUS payback & you need to complete the right amount of groveling to be forgiven....

ha ha ha biteybird... Oscar is doing a little better. He only screams in the mornings now... but I guess that is what most birds do. It is spring time and all the birds outside are paring up and mating. It is times like this that I wish he had a real girlfriend.
Still a little bit of snow in my front yard.. but not bad. It should be gone any day now. I guess Aussie is getting ready for their winter eh? If you want I can still ship you a snow ball or two... lol

HAAA! This made me laugh. Maya has only ever been to the sitters twice, and only for a couple of nights, but BOY did I get an earful when she got home! Most of the time, if I can, I take her with me when I travel. We're going on holiday for a week in September though, and I'm DREADING the fallout from that. Luckily, she knows the bird sitters really well as it's where I bought her from and they're really good at making sure she gets time out of her cage and can see all the other birds (who are all quarantined and health checked before being put into the main shop, I double checked!), I like to think it's a bit like a holiday for her, but she's always a bit miffed at me when I go and get her. A week will be the longest, though! :s

When Cupcake returns from my parents' house, her reaction is generally one of being unsure that she wants to come home. She loves it here but things are definitely calmer and more predictable at my parents' house. Better sleep schedule (aligned with the sun), and she has their cockatiel for entertainment. When we bring her home she definitely acts like she wishes she was still there. But she gets over it quickly. Usually within a day or so.
