Hi, Scott and I are going in our caravan for a weeks holiday and we are leaving tomorrow! So excited We want to take the birds but just thought about cooking. We will be cooking in the caravan which of course has LPG Gas to cook with. Is this going to be ok with our quakers or is it dangerous to them?

I cant answer that but maybe you can pop them outside in the fresh air when you are cooking. Where are you going?

Hi Jan, yes we thought the same thing We currently own our own driver training school and we are just about to start up another transport business. So things will get very busy for us in the next few weeks!! So we decided to take a quick week out and go away together with the birds Joel has school so he will stay home and go stay with his brother. We are going to Robe in SA In a lovely little caravan park right on the sea!! Very excited

Sounds like you are going to have fun Angela... Hope the birds enjoy themselves as well. Oscar doesn't mind travelling (as long as he is with me he is happy) but the bumps are hard on him. We have horrible roads here.

You will all be fine. Quakers love the mental stimulation of new places, views, etc. Whe we went away to Central Australia for 2 weeks with our camper trailer we took Bonnie with us and she loved it. She ran through vocal practice (her favourite whistles & words, interspersed with some obligatory parrot squawking) in the car for each leg of our trip. When we go away for weekends she still loves being in the car and I believe she understands that she can't have the flying freedom a normal home space would offer. Hope you all have a great time!

Yes we were fine Biteybird We were in hysterics actually!! Skye does a lot of wolf whistles as well as other whistles plus his usual squawking of course and Loki is starting to copy him. So if you can picture it.... Squawk, whistle, screech, squawk, squawk, screech, wolf whistle, then kiss, kiss, kiss.... It was so funny! He's not don't the kiss kiss noise yet, so that was the first time. We laughed so hard lol!! The weather is gorgeous

Have a great holiday Angela. Sounds like you will get lots of entertainment from the quakers on this trip. You and Biteybird are giving me food for thought. When I move in July there are lots of forests, etc., around us. Might take Shah out in his backpack (we used to do it all the time before I got Emma). It will be great stimulation for him.

It's a funny thing, but Bonnie does much more whistling, general cute noises and talking when she's in the car. I think it could be that the engine noise provides a soothing kind of background noise and she doesn't feel as self conscious. She does the same when it's raining heavily at home and the aviary birds outside make more noises, too, when it's raining. It's just a theory!

Thanks Jan! Sounds like a great idea to take Shah for a 'walk' They are definitely having a great time. We put the annex up so we could sit outside and let them out with us. They got spooked a few times because of the wind, but settle in well Great theory Biteybird... Could be right... No more kiss kiss noises yet... Will see how they go for the trip home
